Why I Decided to Build on
@AbstractChain
It all started a year ago when I joined The Huddle, thanks to
@KevinWSHPod . At the time, I had no idea how deep this journey would take me.
Then came Paris. I met incredible Penguins:
@fifilechien ,
@mpfeth ,
@chrisdyoreth ,
@t_d_u_s , and so many others. That moment solidified what I already felt. This wasn’t just a community. It was a movement.
From that point on, I traveled the world, attending
@pudgypenguins events and meeting some of the most extraordinary builders pushing the space forward. It became clear this wasn’t just a collection of NFT holders but a true team on a mission to democratize access to crypto as it is one of the major problem we have in the industry.
Then, in September, I met
@0xbeans from Abstract. His conviction about what they were building was contagious. The way he explained it, the future of blockchain isn’t about the chain itself. It’s about the applications that people actually use.
Then December came, and I received my biggest airdrop to date:
$Pengu. It wasn’t just free money. As a builder, having resources gives us the freedom to push further, experiment more, and accelerate our journey.
So, why am I doubling down now?
With some FUD floating around, it’s easy to get distracted. But here’s why I remain bullish on Abstract:
1️⃣ Tech is important, but vision matters more.
I could highlight Abstract’s Global Wallet, session keys, or other game-changing consumer features. But the real reason Abstract stands out is its thesis on value capture.
Look at Web2. Protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, and SMTP built the foundation, but the real value lies in applications: Google, Facebook, Twitter. The protocols remain thin and commoditized, while the apps dominate market cap.
Abstract understands this completely.
In the future, people won’t care about the chain. They’ll talk about the apps. They’ll talk about Jupiter, not Solana. And that’s why I believe in Abstract. They’re building for where the value will be captured.
2️⃣ Pudgy Penguins as a Web2 distribution tool.
Pudgy Penguins has generated over 37B+ views via GIFs, 1.6M followers on TikTok, 1.7M on Instagram, and 2M+ toys sold globally. Leveraging Abstract’s ability to tap into Pudgy Penguins’ reach to bring crypto beyond crypto-natives into the mass market is a massive play.
3️⃣ The
@IglooInc team is one of the best in the space, and
@LucaNetz is one of the most well-connected and respected crypto founders.
This week at NFT Paris, I had a great discussion with him about Abstract and their next moves. One thing really surprised me. His ability to seek feedback on what he’s building, where many founders would have become cocky. That’s a key reason they will succeed. And let me tell you, I’m more bullish than ever.
4️⃣ VCs like
@1kxnetwork are already pushing consumer crypto.
Shoutout to
@jakub_rusiecki &
@pet3rpan_ . The writing is on the wall.
5️⃣ Abstract is prioritizing their mission over false religion.
$Pengu launched on
@solana because it’s the biggest consumer chain at the moment. That shows their focus, avoiding maximalist debates that don’t matter because, let’s be honest, we haven’t cracked the code yet.
By launching
$Pengu, Pudgy Penguins just built a cultural bridge between Ethereum and Solana, uniting both under one shared community.
6️⃣ The Solana comeback proves focus wins.
I’m not necessarily pro or against what’s going on with Solana’s memecoins, but one thing is clear. Solana showed us what happens when you optimize for a single metric. In their case, TPS and speed. Even in the toughest moments, that focus allowed them to flip the situation.
Right now, it may seem like Abstract is in a tough moment, but that’s exactly why I’m more bullish. Internally, the team is laser-focused on a single metric: becoming the chain of adoption for consumers. And when that happens, being a builder and investor on Abstract will pay off massively, just like it did for Solana.
Remember a year ago, most Solana coins were on life support. Now, they’re some of the biggest in the industry.
This is where the future is being built. I’m all in with
