we don’t do ourselves much of a service by fostering a culture of “I’m not an engineer I just copy-paste bugs from stack overflow lol” while I think it’s good to not take ourselves too seriously and foster a culture where failure and experimentation are encouraged, we can sometimes make ourselves seem like we are dumb, interchangeable cogs, so it’s no wonder that no code would seem like a godsend. We need to keep the spirit of failing and experimenting but also make it clear that we care about solving hard problems and doing so with care and precision.

yea, I use a lot of metaphors myself, part of it I think is just kind of how I think, but definitely the more I read over the years, the easier that became, you realize there just are a lot of stories and they all can tie together
I think in general the best thing you can do is go deep on a few subjects you are passionate about but then be pretty well read in a broad range so that you are capable of taking everything that you don’t know and pulling it into your domain through metaphor
