I think theres a point to be made that "the will of the people" isn't really as clear as it seems to be, since we live in a world where everybody's opinion about everything is shaped entirely by media interests. Its a hard (impossible) thing to solve.
like, if you trick a room full of people into wanting something, could you really say that its their will to want that thing? IDK, on the surface i think the answer is "yes, obviously everyone is influenced by everything and its unfair to say that media influence is the one influence thats bad" but its muddy i think.
