Under him it felt blame flowed downwards to reports and negative feedback about his weird initiatives or the even weirder initiatives from those above were ignored.
Overall felt like a cult and honestly I remember him repeatedly mentioning his sneaker collection. It came up about every third meeting give or take somehow. Honestly think he cared more about the sneakers than his employees.
I remember there was an event where I couldnโt give him any feedback for an initiative over him telling me how his sneakers were almost stolen from the mansion he was renting at the time.
There was some a lot of political correctness and general silencing of opinions that didnโt tow the weird woo woo company line and he definitely made it clear where he politically stood (very left).
Lots of weird virtue signalingโpublicly he speaks like he tweets, but in private the guy seemed two-faced like a lot of university coastal elite types and didnโt actually care about improving things if it didnโt improve his paycheck.
Heโs a decently large reason why I asked to get laid off and I donโt think Iโm the only one. The culture he set was miserable and you could feel it through the org if you had any sort of free thinking.

i realized very quickly that i was actually deeply unhappy living like this, and that this wasnโt the way to go for me
itโs a bit of a shame to come to that realization, but truthfully the cost of it was shockingly higher than expected
if you had any sort of hobbies, you couldnโt own things that make money (tools, machines, etc) and everything had to be digital
it locked me into a software job and just essentially being a captive consumer in ways you couldnโt see until you stopped
i have respect for people who can pull this off, but the reality is if you have a lot of ambitions in the physical world this isnโt as good of a move as you may think
