transit lover, mom of two who feel the same. currently @regionalplan, formerly @tri_state, @nycdot, @nycparks. views are my own.

As a union household, this one hurts! We need congestion pricing so teachers and students can get to school on time. So disappointing @UFT
Today, our union, along with teachers who work at schools in Manhattan and the Bronx as well as Staten Island Borough President @SIBPVito, filed a federal lawsuit asking the court to halt the implementation of congestion pricing in Manhattan.

Proud to announce that we’re moving forward with a huge New York City transit project: the new Interborough Express 🚊 This line will connect Brooklyn and Queens, shaving time off commutes and making it easier to connect to subway lines across the route.

It’s great to be at the @regional_plan HQ in Lower Manhattan! We rode trains, bikes, ferries to get here. Don’t buy the media hype that COVID is the end of cities or public transit. Staying healthy is about precaution and respect, not low pop density.

It’s simply not true that congestion pricing revenue will only pay for transit expansion. Look at the MTA capital program —- the vast majority ($48B) is for maintaining and upgrading what we have (new tracks, new buses, new rail cars, etc). 7.6B is for new capacity.

NYC will never be a progressive American city if it doesn't fix it parental leave policy. The lack of paid maternity leave was one of the main reasons I left city employment.
I have had so many friends who work(ed) for the City of New York go through this. You basically wind up burning through all of your sick time while on maternity leave, which leaves you f-ed when you or your kid get sick and you're back at work. It's time for a change. nitter.app/danarubinstein/status/…

NJ drivers to NYC already pay tolls, and prior congestion pricing proposals have had toll credits for Lincoln and Holland. With those credits, it’s possible there won’t be many diversions. GW toll credit should be evaluated. NJT def needs help but not because of congest pricing!
