Wow. You'd think the creator of a (legendary) show spotlighting racialized policing might care that speed cameras are pretty much the only safe-streets tool that works and is colorblind . . . and that in NYC way more people walk than drive. 1/2
Delete your own, mooks. You want to send me a straight speeding ticket, I pay without comment. You send me one invoking a school-zone violation, I am going to rightly note the fact that no school is operant on the date and time. In my city, we employ that statute judiciously.

No, @brianlehrer, the "congestion tax" (nope, it's a fee) isn't "designed to keep *people* out of the central business district," it's designed to keep out a modest % of *motor v's* and improve transpo + life for all. More *people* will enter the CBD with it than do now.

No, @NYCMayor can't afford to piss off the NYPD b/c he doesn't have the political skills, inner fortitude, or authenticity to call the whistle on NYPD corruption. Period.
Zero tolerance would solve this: Misuse a placard, you’re fired. But @NYCMayor can’t afford to piss off the NYPD, whose begrudging buy-in on #VisionZero is needed.

This excerpt from today's NYT Covid-19 section, about Scandinavians' embrace of winter, captures how I feel about cycling when temps fall below 40F. Why don't NYers / Americans ever hear this about cycling? It makes me want to distance myself from candidates who never bike.

Having an "imposter" moment, seeing my name among "fathers & mothers" of #congestionpricing win. Pictured below are *my* biggest heroes: Vickrey, Cohen, Kheel, Ketcham. What a debt we owe them. And @NYDailyNews as well, for unflagging editorial support: nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-e…

I don't mind @ericadamsfornyc's imagery here at all. Mayors *are* shepherds in many ways. And as @MaraGay observed last week, Mayor Adams wasn't necessarily talking to you. Biblical uplift may well be better messaging than your and my wonky talk, esp'ly on Day 3 of his mayoralty.
Appreciate the sentiment but we're not sheep. You can just say that these are the way most people get around. They're faster and more reliable than driving. And a city of the density of NYC does not function with private automobiles as the primary mode of travel.

So glad you were on hand to shoot this heartwarming video. Wish you hadn't edited out Part II, where, w/ victim safely removed, the heroic onlookers tipped the SUV on its side and then completely upside down to ensure it couldn't again do harm -- at least not for awhile.

Unpopular opinion: it's also reckless driving.
The problem isn’t reckless driving, it’s that our streets encourage reckless driving.
