Starting Tue, Dec. 5 @10am, PATH is piloting TAPP, a new contactless fare payment system that works with your mobile device/card. Pilot begins with three turnstiles at JSQ & two at the 30th St entrance of 33 St station. Stay tuned as we keep testing & roll out to more stations!

EVERY LINE, EVERY DAY: You told us, and we listened. The Port Authority is proposing some of the largest service increases in PATH history. All PATH lines would operate seven days a week, for the first time in 25 years - a major milestone for the system’s modernization following the conclusion of the PATH Forward program in 2026. The proposed plan also proposes more frequent rush hour, late-night, and weekend service: -Increased rush hour service, with Hoboken-WTC trains every six minutes during morning rush hour (+33%), and Newark-WTC trains every four minutes during morning and evening rush hours (+25%) -Improved late-night service, with trains arriving every 20 minutes (instead of 40), for all lines, on Fridays and Saturdays -Reinstated direct weekend service on the Journal Square–33 St line with trains every ten minutes, and no more stopping in Hoboken -Better weekend service, with dedicated service to Hoboken from WTC and 33rd St, for the first time in 25 years The proposed plan also includes installation of new state-of-the-art fare gates to combat fare evasion. PATH’s operations are unique among major U.S. transit systems in that PATH receives no state or federal funding. To sustain operations and fund these major service increases, The Port Authority is proposing a fare increase of $0.25 beginning in spring 2026, with additional $0.25 increases each January from 2027 to 2029. During this time, there will be extensive travel alternatives available. Increased PATH service. On Friday, August 29, PATH will run additional service to 33 St and World Trade Center stations at Exchange Place and Newport stations from 7 AM - 9 PM. From Saturday, August 30 - Monday, September 1, service on the JSQ-33 St. line will operate every 10 minutes and service on the NWK-WTC line will operate every 20 minutes with supplemental service between JSQ-WTC. Free shuttle bus operating 24/7 between Hoboken, Newport and Exchange Place stations where riders can connect to PATH. NY Waterway Ferry. PATH customers will be able to travel on NY Waterway ferries between Hoboken (NJT Terminal and 14th St.) and New York (Brookfield Place/Battery Park, Midtown/W 39th St., and Pier 11/Wall Street). NJ TRANSIT 126 Bus. Customers can travel between Hoboken and the Port Authority Midtown Bus Terminal via NJ TRANSIT’s 126 Bus, which will have supplemental service during the closure. Starting the weekend of September 13–14, 2025, PATH service will be suspended between Harrison and Journal Square stations over six weekends to accommodate the demolition of a Conrail freight rail bridge over PATH tracks. We will provide free wheelchair-accessible shuttle buses between Harrison and Journal Square and between Newark-Penn Station and Journal Square during these service outages. Buses will run every 7 to 12 minutes, except during early morning hours from 3 to 8 a.m. when buses will run every 15 to 20 minutes. Riders can find shuttle bus locations by following signage at the affected stations. Customer service agents and Port Authority police officers will be available to assist riders. We’re sorry for today’s earlier service disruption. Around 9:00 AM, we identified a signal problem near 33rd Street Station that required emergency repairs. As a result, we had to temporarily suspend service on both the Hoboken–33rd Street and Journal Square–33rd Street lines.
