Global momentum recognising Taliban’s crimes as gender apartheid is growing every day. Solidarity, like Mexico’s leadership at the UN, can protect us all. This fight is part of the global struggle against the assault on women’s rights and the rollback of all our freedoms.
I had an excellent first meeting with la Presidenta @claudiashein today in Mexico City. We discussed our shared commitment to girls’ rights, including the right to a full, safe, quality education. We also spoke about the situation in Afghanistan, where girls are banned from school past grade 6 and women are being systematically erased from public life under the Taliban’s gender apartheid regime. Mexico is showing leadership at the UN by championing the effort to recognise gender apartheid as a crime against humanity under international law. I thanked the President for her solidarity and look forward to working with her government to invest in a world where all girls can live and learn freely. ¡Muchas gracías, señora Presidenta!

If the Taliban thought the world would forget their ban on girls' education and their erasure of women and girls from society, they were wrong. The BRICS summit’s final declaration calls for reversing the ban on education and protecting the fundamental rights of women & girls.
The BRICS summit final declaration has called on the Islamic Emirate to reverse the ban on secondary education of girls and ensure the rights of all Afghans including women and girls in the country. The declaration has also emphasized the need for peaceful settlement in Afghanistan while asking for measures to ensure other countries are not threatened by its territory. “We advocate for Afghanistan as an independent, united and peaceful state free from terrorism, war and drugs,” the declaration reads. Great Work! Young Afghans will bring peace to their country no matter what!
I'm delighted to win UNDP's N-Peace Award - Peace Generation (2019). This recognition is an opportunity to enable me & my friends at the @RahilaFDN to move beyond what we thought we could do even yesterday. Thank you all for your support. Thank you @NPeaceNetwork, @UNDP, #Canada.
