Congress must re-establish asylum protections and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the 1.3 million people that the Supreme Court’s latest rulings now endanger. The rulings empower the Trump administration to send protected people from 17 countries including Haiti and Syria back into danger - a clear violation of international law. Instead of doubling down on racist and anti-immigrant practices and policies, the United States should be restoring access to asylum at the border and creating an immigration system that is fair and rooted in human rights. #HumanityMustWin

Iranian authorities must immediately quash the convictions in mid-June of singer Parastoo Ahmadi and eight other musicians who were each sentenced to 74 lashes, a two-year travel ban and two-year ban on artistic activities. Their sentences relate to a live-streamed 2024 concert in Qom province where Parastoo Ahmadi performed unveiled in a sleeveless dress. The video went viral, gaining millions of views. Flogging constitutes cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment, and violates the absolute prohibition on torture and other ill-treatment. Iranian authorities must abolish compulsory veiling and corporal punishment and end the criminalization of freedom of expression.

The EU and its member states’ plans to deport Afghan nationals are a disgrace. We rallied outside the EU Commission headquarters to spread the message that Afghanistan cannot be considered a safe country. Its dire human rights situation, deepening humanitarian crisis and systemic oppression of women and girls, make deportation a dangerous move and ignore the EU’s own legal obligations. Anyone deported back to the country faces real and well-documented risks to their safety and rights. The Taliban must be held accountable for their widespread and systematic human rights abuses.

🚨 #Jordan: Jordanian authorities resumed executions this week; executing six people, after a nine-year halt. The move is worrying, particularly as the government announced that more than 100 people are still on death row and threatened to carry out more executions successively. While the majority of countries in the world are moving towards abolishing the death penalty in law or in practice, Jordan's resumption of executions, coupled with the authorities' announcement of their intention to expand its use to drug-related crimes, is a worrying step backwards. We call on @MOJ_Jor and @KingAbdullahII to immediately halt all executions and establish an official moratorium on executions as a prelude to completely abolishing the death penalty. #END_Death_Penalty

Mexico City and all federal authorities must uphold the right to protest for all groups and families demonstrating during the World Cup. Groups have been campaigning for the search and identification of their disappeared loved ones for years - work that is a legitimate form of human rights defense. This must be recognized, respected and protected. Guaranteeing the right to protest is an obligation of the Mexican State. Events surrounding the World Cup must point to humanity, not cruelty. #HumanityMustWin

🚨The recent images of Dr. Hussam Abu Safyia are shocking evidence of Israel's abuse against Palestinian detainees. Dr. Abu Safyia has been arbitrarily detained for one and a half years without charges, while being physically abused and denied healthcare. His recent solitary confinement adds a further layer of concerns over his deteriorating health. Dr. Abu Safyia must be immediately and unconditionally released. Israel must release all Palestinians arbitrarily detained. States must pressure Israel to stop abusing Palestinian prisoners. #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya
