Bridge is joining forces with Stripe! I’m incredibly excited We started 2.5 years ago and we’ve done a lot since then :) We’re going to do a whole lot more in the years ahead. This is an important milestone, but we’re still at the very beginning of the Bridge journey. We started Bridge because we thought stablecoins could become a core, global, regulated payment platform. Our first year was hard. The digital asset space was in turmoil. We struggled to find partners / customers. We launched with our APIs in March 2023. After launch, we quickly saw inbound interest from cross-border payments companies. People talked about stablecoins for x-border money movement, but we didn't understand the space or need. As an ideologue that came into the space wanting to completely replace financial rails and make banking open for all, one question that always comes top of mind is how do we reach mass adoption? It's almost a meme at this point but I definitely won't posit things such as "gaming will bring the next billion users on chain". Instead, I wanted to suggest a rather simple point that many have overlooked: adoption will come from builders Founders like @gldnXross from @aavegotchi or @weremeow @sssionggg from @JupiterExchange are constantly getting on community calls day in day out to help build better products that actually drive retail adoption. Without these people who have long time horizons and the grit to get through the shit show rollercoaster that we call startups, we would have no on chain usage. Founders evangelise and bring in retail who try and use their products - not the other way around. The problem we have is that builders are chronically underserved. So you might ask why is this community underserved? Consider firstly that the proportion of builders vs retail is likely sub 1%. KOLs, VCs, service providers, general retail buyers make up the other 99%. The voices and the needs of these people are likely drowned out (see nitter.app/tongnk/status/16359133… for more context of why we started @sgbuidl in the first place) Secondly, let's take a look at time horizons. Whilst this is a massive overgeneralisation, most people in crypto from a retail perspective are in it to make it big in a short amount of time (simply look at the memecoins and the general casino state of crypto). Founders and builders are also interested in making money but most of the time it's a byproduct. Solving a real problem and the passion for solving this is what gets founders through the bear markets - you notice that the mercenary ones get wiped out every cycle as they crawl back and decide to exit. How do we support them? I will expand on this more in subsequent posts but there are many factors around supporting startups. Statistically only 1% of startups will “make it” - most will die over time. There are a lot of factors here - anything from wrong timing all the way to poor execution. What part of this problem is SG Builders solving? We’re doing our part through creation of a community - we think of this as a support network that solves a couple of problems: 1. Safe space: we’re creating a safe space for founders and builders to discuss, share and support one another 2. Connect: connections come in many forms but the beauty of a community is it’s diversity of skillsets and knowledge. Our aim is to connect within the community as well as with the wider ecosystem of partners - VCs, service providers etc 3. Learn: if we consider how we leverage the community that has been built to date - one of the key items is how we can facilitate learning directly from the source. If one wants to learn about gaming they’ll go talk to a gaming founder or if someone wants to learn about infrastructure they’ll go directly there.

1/ Why everyone is wrong about stablecoins @Stripe’s recent acquisition of stablecoin orchestration startup Bridge sent shockwaves through the crypto world. For the first time, a major payments company committed over a billion dollars to accelerate its use of this technology.

Can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since 2024 started. We’ve been working on a lot of very exciting things and I wanted to take some time to share some of the upcoming things that we’re working on! 1/ 🏡 SG Builders Lounge I’ve always been a strong believer in physical, curated gatherings and events as a way to building a strong community, and am very happy to announce that we’re partnering with the @solanafm team to present the SG Builders Lounge! Located in the heart of Chinatown on Sago St we’re super happy to open this up to the SG Builder community: maps.app.goo.gl/d1tCuutwqnjp… We’re looking to create this into a community hub where crypto in Singapore comes to gather and meet. Founders and builders can come here for anything from casual gatherings to serious technical project deep dives. As more and more members of the community are looking to host events for the community we’ve needed better ways to organise for the group. As part of this we have the generous time of the @AirfoilStudio team who are helping us build out a SG Builders telegram bot. This bot will start out small but will allow for community members to quickly create events, curate their attendance and collect payments. Additionally, all members of SG Builders will now be able to see all events in one single place (think Luma + official events + community organised ones)! 3/ 📝 Updating Applications Process One of the main reasons things work within the community is due to curation. Part of our process currently involves a number of steps to understand each individual and how they fit within the community. Whilst we continue to experiment on what works best one big change we are going to be doing going forward is requiring new applicants to be referred by existing community members.
