If you’re making $40k then sure, reducing your lifestyle by $10k is very significant. But if you’re making $150k, then spending $10k less will not be too impactful to lifestyle.
The whole “wait 15 years so you now have $10k annual interest” isn’t the entire picture either. You’ve also created a $200k portfolio. That part feels brushed over and is very significant in determining whether it was worth it or not.
