"As a student, I went to a media house seeking an internship placement, but I was turned away by the security personnel. Starting MCI, we wanted to make sure no other aspiring journalist experiences such," @MpindiAbaas , our Team Lead, said during a spotlight event @StartHubAfrica this evening.
He pinpointed that sharing the Media Challenge Initiative [MCI] story and witnessing the team's growth are among his greatest joys.
Abaas emphasised the advantage of starting young, because it offers one an opportunity to learn from their mistakes.
Reflecting on MCI's inception, Abaas underscored the role of friendship, emphasising collaborative efforts and mutual respect. He highlighted the significance of teamwork, noting that during challenging times, team members become your support system.
Additionally, he acknowledged the struggle young entrepreneurs have bringing brilliant ideas to life. He commended innovations like @StartHubAfrica for bridging this gap.
Abaas also stressed the importance of business models in addressing community issues, noting that partners, collaborators and other people fall in love with the solution not the individual.
The event ended with a Q&A exchange and networking, where young entrepreneurs discussed their ideas, learned about each other's initiatives, and explored avenues for collaborative growth.
