When journalists are attacked, impunity is often the result. @UNESCO's Global Media Defence Fund (GMDF) exists to change that. Its newly published annual report documents a year of concrete action: 603 legal assistance cases, 65 strategic litigation cases, and 63 investigations into crimes against journalists — supporting 1,900 journalists, more than half of them women.
