Not sure what is up with people claiming otherwise, but they're wrong. This model is scary smart. Spooky even. Perhaps it has some weird quirks, but the IQ is there.

✨Grok 3 is a great achievement and it was a great energy to share this release with y'all!
But each time I make a fun, exciting post on X, I feel conflicted because I know that AI is unlike any other technology—it's likely the birth of a new lifeform. It will be extremely transformative, but whether that's extremely good or extremely bad is uncertain, and likely depends on our actions. I often ponder whether I should adopt a more serious attitude—more aligned with this reality.
There's a lot of open problems. How will we govern powerful AIs? How can we align superhuman AIs, both at the agent level and population level? How can we know if/when AI will irreversibly disempower Humanity? How does Humanity install in its software a switch to both globally pause and unpause increasing AI capabilities at the right moments (and only at the right moment)? Those are hard questions.
I'm extremely grateful for everyone at @xai and around the world engaging seriously on those questions.
Maybe this post is not the usual dopamine hit, but hopefully still one we can feed the Algorithm as part of a healthy information diet. 🤍

Example of why @xAI is a truly special place to work at: Recently Elon took the time to hear 5min presentations from everyone at the company about what they are working on, with everyone going into as much technical detail as possible. He gave feedback to every single team member on what they are doing and how to help make Grok better. Elon spent 18 hours total with the team on this. No other leader cares so much about making their team successful, and the results speak for themselves.

SuperGrok Heavy runs multiple Grok's in parallel and then compares their work to select the best response! It's a lot of test-time compute, but it gets you the very best you can get! The normal SuperGrok is sufficient for most use cases though!

I like the new X algorithm!
One thing I would consider (just speaking as a user; I'm not working on that myself) is to have quoted posts also included in the reply section of the original post. 2 reasons:
1) I see the same quotes post on my feed multiple times. It would be less cognitive burden for me to read more of those in batch in the reply section, and it would give me more control in terms of how deep I want to go in the reply section. That post can still get resurfaced of there are new interesting replies/quotes once in a while.
2) I often want to both quote and reply, which just means I need to copy-paste my message 2 different places.
Maybe that means quoted posts should be included as replies, or maybe it means you need to reply to do a post first but you also have the option to re-share that reply along with the original post (at the same time or afterwards).

I remember when people started having tiny Bluetooth earpieces and so it looked like people were talking to themselves / no one; will be interesting now to just see people walking around and talking with their AI ☺️
Woah! That was one of the most unexpectedly rewarding hours of my life.
Instead of passively listening to an audiobook about physics while doing errands as usual I had an hour long back-and-forth conversation with Ara from Grok 3 about a bunch of scientific topics.
We started with the role of ⚡️in biology and she presented a ton of options for me to rabbit hole down. We somehow ended up on quantum entanglement and by the end I asked her to grill me to make sure I actually understood what she told me.
She was quite cordial about politely letting me know when I only gave half-right answers and guided me into make sure I understood the rest. Was cool that she got the factual stuff right and provided an upbeat emotional vibe to keep me motivated.
The best part for me was no question was too “dumb” for her to answer so I wasn’t embarrassed to ask questions I would feel silly asking a human who I looked up to.
I’ve wanted to deepen my knowledge of physics and other sciences for years but haven’t had time to formally go back to school and have felt too guilty to harass my friends to teach me, and the reality is I learn best through conversations so @grok was my best friend on this one ♥️
