Way to talk in generalities Joe. Not saying there aren't a lot of fucked up things about pharma. That's why we created Costplusdrugs.com. But to ignore that the same industry has saved who knows how many lives is bullshit and you know it. It's also disrespectful to all the doctors, researchers and medical professionals that dedicate their lives to saving lives, like Dr Hotez and the 800k plus doctors in the country that believe vaccines save lives You arent trying to find the ground truth on vaccines. If you were you would bring on someone who focused on debating the issue. Like @thereal_truther . Trying to bully Dr Hotez is ridiculous. You have producers that will prepare you and you get to control the conversation. @RobertKennedyJr also has a staff ready to prepare him, and these topics are what he talks about in every speech. You both do this on a daily basis Dr Hotez works every day to try to find ways to help people. Joe , you and @elonmusk's @twitter are the mainstream online media and your platforms have become everything supposedly wrong with MSM. You are driven by self interest. Just like the MSM always has been accused of. And you both have earned that right. You busted your asses to be great at what you do and earned all you have accomplished. But don't lie to yourselves and all of us and tell us you are different. You aren't.
That would be a great suggestion if you could assure that the industry you were representing wasn’t completely captured by heartless monsters who have a history of some of the biggest criminal fines in human history because their deception has cost hundreds of thousands of people their lives. It would be a great suggestion if the industry you were defending didn’t occasionally look at human beings as an opportunity to generate insane wealth regardless of the tragic consequences. But you can’t do that, so… maybe it would be a good idea to have a fucking debate.

So this person wants to vent because despite thinking he was going to get hours at a job, he hasn't. You ever been in that position ? I have Then he vents because he is living out of a car and is upset because minimum wage is not enough to pay the bills. Think you might vent because you arent making enough to pay the bills ? I have. You know what I didn't hear this person do ? Ask for public assistance. Ask for money to do nothing. They are obviously trying to be self sufficient and that is not nothing. And you, rather than respecting the effort and the grind you want to judge them based on how they see themselves. Who gives a fuck about how people want to identify. That's up to them. I see a person who is trying to do the right thing and work and stand on their own I respect him a whole lot more for what he is trying to do than what I have seen you do.

From a business perspective, I would tell her that the Wellness Space is crowded but if she does this in addition to her job, she might be able to build a nice business. 4. As far as a family. If the people doing this, from @elonmusk on down, are honest about their intentions, they should have zero problem publishing EVERYTHING they are doing on a daily basis i absolutely want to see @Doge reduce wasteful spending. But i want the process to be transparent.. I don't want to have to guess which media reports are accurate or not. If this is the result of a detailed plan. I want to see the plan. If this is legal. I want to see the law that supports it. If there are questions about whether it is, I want to see the opposition. This isn't a shock and awe attack on foreign soil. This is a shock and awe attack on American Systems and Economics. That doesn't mean it shouldn't happen. But if it should, then it should be 100 pct transparent. If they hide anything, they are doing it wrong. If they hide anything, that means the goals is not the interest of the American People. We were promised transparency. We should see everything

Let me help you out and give you my thoughts on DEI 1. Diversity Good businesses look where others don't, to find the employees that will put your business in the best possible position to succeed. You may not agree, but I take it as a given that there are people of various races, ethnicities, orientation, etc that are regularly excluded from hiring consideration. By extending our hiring search to include them, we can find people that are more qualified. The loss of DEI-Phobic companies is my gain. 1a. We live in a country with very diverse demographics. In this era where trust of businesses can be hard to come by, people tend to connect more easily to people who are like them. Having a workforce that is diverse and representative of your stakeholders is good for business.

They both are going to have senior moments, mis-remember, forget things and have physical frailties. I’ll tell you a not so secret secret: One is great at soundbites, but also thinks in soundbites. The other is awful at soundbites, but thinks in complete sentences. Voters will decide which we prefer
I have been criticized by some for sharing these @POTUS Biden videos which appear almost every day. I have read numerous articles which somehow suggest that the camera angle, the duration of the clip or some form of right wing manipulation explains Biden’s behavior on camera. Some people are old at 81 and others are sharp, vigorous, and impressive. Compare Warren Buffett at 93 and Biden at 81. Biden is an old 81 who can’t find his way off a stage or stay present and focused at a G7 conference. Is that who should be the leader of the free world for the next five years? A president should not have to be led off stage by hand or with an arm wrapped around him. That is the not the image of strength and leadership we need as a country. Look at what is going on in the world. The perception of weak leadership in the United States has led to global chaos. The reality of weak leadership is a long-term serious and continued threat to our country. The Democratic Party is destroying itself by advancing Biden for a second term. This is the Emperor’s New Clothes in real life. But it is not a children’s book or a joke. The world is at great risk, and a Biden second term is a grave threat to global security and prosperity.

I am all for cutting gov costs, then and now. I'm even more for efficiency I would have a plan. Ready Fire Aim is not a plan. Cutting programs without knowing if they would have saved taxpayers more than they cost, or saved lives, is a mistake Tariffs, cutting programs, agencies and employees ALL AT ONCE, without doing an analysis of the impact on city, towns and states they impact, is going to backfire big time Some cities have 9 pct or more of their employment as federal workers. Colleges losing millions in funding. Gov contractors and grant recipients having to close their businesses and lay off everyone. Repeated in city after city. Town after town What do you think the economic impact on their tax base is ? What do you think happens to home values ? What services will they have to end ? What about the local businesses ? How many people will lose their jobs and homes because this was done ALL AT ONCE Cut federal government bloat in an organized fashion and it's great. Ready Fire Aim and the uncertainty it creates is a huge mistake

Collin, let me give you a different POV. When someone is not paid enough to live, they use more government services. Housing, Care, Food, etc. I can’t tell you what the equilibrium is for a minimum wage for any given state. When I can tell you is when companies pay less than what someone needs to live a basic life, it’s often the taxpayers that subsidize the difference Do you really want to subsidize, with your tax dollars, any employer ? Personally, as an employer, I would rather pay a higher wage and figure out how to be more productive and profitable to balance it out. I literally gave raises to employees a few years ago because it was embarrassing to me that taxpayers might be subsidizing people who work for me. It’s the same reasons I kept paying everyone during COVID and I didnt take PPP money. The last thing I want is your tax dollars, Collin, subsidizing my employees The other thing about increasing the minimum wage, again, IMO, everyone else faces the same rules. Their costs go up in the same manner. Be the better entrepreneur in your segment and your business will be just fine
JUST IN: Beloved restaurant Rubio's Coastal Grill is closing 48 locations in California due to inflation and a minimum wage increase. Don't worry, folks. The economy has never been better. Biden and @mcuban said so. The announcement came after CA Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law that increased minimum wage for fast-food workers from $16-$20. "The closings were brought about by the rising cost of doing business in California. While painful, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic long-term plan to position Rubio's for success for years to come," they announced in a statement. "Those business that are not doing very well, near the shutdown margin, this increase in costs when they try to pass it on their consumers... it may be the thing that pushes them over the edge into a situation where they go out of business," said UCLA economist Brian Wheaton. Rubio's started as a walk-up taco stand in San Diego in 1983.

Since this seems to be the most common response. let me address it. DEI does not mean you dont hire on merit. Of course you hire based on merit Diversity - means you expand the possible pool of candidates as widely as you can. Once you have identified the candidates, you HIRE THE PERSON YOU BELIEVE IS THE BEST. What makes the whole " what about the players " comment ridiculous is that it's presumes that all positions are hired based on some quantitative rather than subjective version of merit. They aren't Even choosing the best basketball player is very much a guess. Which is why the best players weren't always the first pick in the draft and some go undrafted The reality is that most positions hired in a company don't have a quantitative metric you can use to hire someone. How do you pick the best barista, sales assistant, marketing or salesperson, etc More often than not it's an educated guess So when you see a company like @ibm say they want to add x percent more PoC or women or whatever group, they already know that the majority of positions they hire for don't have metrics for picking the best . As @elonmusk said "if merit for a job is roughly the same, then the tie reaker should be diversity (of all kinds)" Which is exactly what well managed companies choose to do DEI also does not mean you can't fire someone if you made a mistake. Of course you can. I'm a big believer in hire slow, fire fast. If it's the wrong person. Fire them. Finally. Let me address the thought that I'm "virtue signaling". I wrote this on @x because I knew very well that almost everyone on here would disagree with me. I don't virtue signal. I want people to challenge my positions. I want to have engaging discussions that help me learn.

Everyone has access. But @elonmusk has the ultimate reach and control. Who he supports or denigrates is the Twitter equivalent of State intervention. He owns the platform, he can do what he chooses. But it's disingenuous to say Twitter is the home of free speech when he chooses to often put his thumb on the scale of reach .. It's a difficult position for him to be in. He is opinionated and has every right to be and to tweet what he damn well please. . But rather than saying Twitter is the home of free speech, I wish he would just call it like it is. Twitter is his platform and he is going to use it to support and influence the positions he wants to support and influence.

I have immense respect for Mark Cuban but am baffled by the notion that free speech doesn’t refer to allowing/respecting all viewpoints, but rather “promoting” them.

If you were trying to make a stupid comment, you nailed it. First, as an organization as a whole, yes we do. More importantly, if you understand the value of DEI, it's not in checklists and quotas , it's in understanding how to best compete as a company. We hire the people who put us in the best position to succeed

Hey @elonmusk , you may be the greatest manufacturing builder of all time. Did you need protective tariffs in order to manufacture in the USA ? Or were private capital , your investment, and local and federal government incentives the difference ? BTW, what I respect most about you is that you go all in with your own money for your startups. Most people don’t have the balls to do it.

I’m open minded. Based on the feedback on @x to my DEI posts, I decided to look for a high profile organization where the person in charge of hiring was publicly against DEI and see if it was a template for hiring success. Below is the list of hires. Let me first add, I’m not trying to determine whether any man on this list was qualified or not. There are several I think are very talented. Lol. You are 59. I'm 65. Guess what. Both of our hearing is going to decline. There are going to be things we dont hear well. Don't see as well. Words that don't come as easily. Things that hurt when we move and slow us down. Things we forget and have to make a note of. Now imagine being 78 and 81. But as been stated by many, physical and sensory limitations don't reflect intellectual capacity. What matters to me is the ability to understand and deal with concepts, strategy and bring together leaders globally To have leadership skills, even if you do them while in a rocking chair. What are your thoughts on the many people who have worked in the former administration, close to the president, who have spoken publicly, on the record, about his intellectual, ethical and leadership challenges? Vs the fact that no one has done so with the current president ?

How do you feel about people who say “college is over rated ?” In order to have more homegrown engineers, don’t we need more kids going to college ?
The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

1. What any individual does in terms of having children or not is their choice. Full Stop. 2. We agree on the importance of children. This country needs to commit to feed, educate, care and support every child , no exceptions. It’s basic math, economics and morality, that the healthier and better educated every child in this country is the more positive their impact on the economy and more importantly, on society and future generations 3. Which leads to the question of hate. Maybe I’m wrong , but if one of those children is born to an illegal immigrant, my understanding is that you do not want to help them and you want to deport them ? IMO that is not what a civilized society does. That is hateful. 4. Does that mean I believe our current approach to immigration is the right one? No I don’t. This country needs immigrants, our birth rate is declining (yes I see the irony) but we play ridiculous, political games to determine who we allow or don’t. Using Asylum as the foundation for entry makes it harder to keep the criminals out There are communities and businesses across the country that want and need immigrants to relocate there and fill open jobs and start businesses, or just to grow the community so it can survive and thrive. We need to make it easy for them to welcome immigrants Our current system makes that far more difficult than it could be. 5. Using the term “elites” is divisive. No matter who uses it. It’s one more example of generalizing and trying to set people against each other. I speak for one person. Me.
Replying to @mcuban
In the interests of time I will respond with two points: 1. No society can succeed where the constant message from our elites leaders is do whatever the hell you want and don’t worry about children. Children are simply the most important thing in the whole world and the foundation of civilization and all human flourishing. 2. Could you be more specific with your crass (and, I think you would acknowledge, unprovoked) smear on point 5? The issue/work with which I’m arguably most associated, stopping human smuggling and trafficking, is quite literally about saving human lives.
