Having a superiority complex because others don't spend their time in a way that's satisfactory to you doesn't mean you care about how society functions. It means that your thoughts were all molded by a bunch of Twitter gurus and you're desperate for validation.

Everyone loves talking about how salespeople spend too little of their time selling. They assume it's because reps are always doing busywork, but they don't realize that even if AI automates literally every manual task for a rep, they still won't spend 100% of their time selling because there need to be enough companies to actually sell to. This is more of a demand problem than an efficiency problem.

2.5 weeks in NYC and exactly 0 regrets about moving here. Haven't questioned my decision for even a single moment. Life here hasn't even truly started yet - my lease starts on Friday and my friends I'm living with won't get here until Saturday - but I've already absorbed so much of the energy and feel renewed. So many people I'm excited to make plans with, so many serendipitous moments to create, so many levers I can pull to generate opportunities. Can't describe how good it feels to know I'm about to reach escape velocity.

Crazy how seeing progress, no matter how small, gets you excited af to keep going. Takes a Herculean effort to go to the gym when you’re spinning your wheels, but when you know you’re gonna add another 5 to the bar, your next workout is all you can think about. Applies to literally everything.

It's sad how so many people are only capable of binary thinking You can believe that Big Pharma is trying to profit off of your sickness while also believing that modern medicine has improved and saved countless lives You can believe that partying until 4am is awful for you while also believing that it's an infinitely better option than staying in sometimes You can believe that anger is a hot coal (or whatever that quote is) while also believing that it can be the strongest fuel possible and should be harnessed in doses Time and place for everything

Never thought about this but it’s fascinating to think of a cope evolving into an asset. It’s similar to the bell curve meme where you have to go through the midwit phase to get to the other side. For me it was acting like things that people said didn’t bother me - at first it led to an inability to set boundaries, but after I learned how to do that, not caring as much about other peoples’ opinions became a huge asset

There have been countless times where I try to search for my CEO's connections at a company and get 0 results, but when I use regular LinkedIn I can see that he's connected with a few people there. There are other annoying things that make me question whether their team ever uses their own product. Should have gone out twice as much as I did when I lived in SF. I'd always make the excuse that I had to get shit done but tbh I would have been way better off going out every weekend. Thankfully I still have time to make up for everything I missed out on
If you're young, you should be spending every weekend night out Doesn't mean you have to be drinking but you should be out, meeting people, making connections Not acceptable to be alone watching TV as a 20-something-year-old on a Saturday night. Total waste of your life

2. Creating energy is how you get ahead in life. The person who creates the most energy wins. When you bring energy out of people, they simply want to be around you more and will feed you opportunities. This doesn’t mean you need to be highly extroverted - I’ve met some introverts who were great listeners and incredibly empathetic, which drew energy out of people - but you have to make your presence felt somehow.

3. [THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE] Doing is downstream of being. Your identity is everything, and you can recreate yourself every day. It will guide all of your actions. You can create yourself into whoever you want to be at any moment. It’s easiest when you wake up in the morning so you start your day being who you want to be. You just choose to be someone and when you catch yourself not being that person, forgive yourself for slipping up and recreate yourself as who you want to be. This takes practice but you are in full control of your identity.

Btw, I’d really appreciate it if you subscribed! Link is in my bio. Even if you never build a massive audience, showing your work on any platform will pay off one day. It’ll attract opportunities you never knew existed, and at minimum it’ll help you build a new skill. There is zero downside. Nobody’s watching.

1. High leverage skills are not individual skills, they’re a collection of micro-skills. Sales is not one skill - you have to be good at discovery, multithreading, building trust, prospecting, orchestrating and project managing both internally and externally, negotiating, and a dozen other skills. These all add up into the meta-skill known as sales, but you have to train them individually. Other meta-skills are the same.
