rare personal update:
i'm no longer an intern at
@monad_xyz
with that said, i'm excited to join the monad growth team full time!
i've chosen to spend years of my life working at monad because it has the best chance of supporting crypto adoption on a global scale.
here’s why👇
i joined crypto because i believed in the ethos of bitcoin: decentralized, censorship resistant, transparent, self sovereign money.
then i learned about ethereum and was fascinated with smart contracts and the potential of dapps.
i could tell the evm dev community was building important new primitives. but i was too poor to use the chain.
fortunately, solana was released and i could finally afford to use a chain. but the svm was brand new, so the infra and apps were lacking; they had to be built from scratch.
as devs chewed glass and solved these problems, i began to spend the majority of my time and money in the solana ecosystem. it simply was faster and cheaper.
but what if you could have the best of both chains?
a chain with the performance necessary for users and quality apps, that leverages years of code and research done in the context of the evm, while staying true to the ethos of decentralization and censorship resistance that i joined crypto for.
that’s why i believe in monad, and why i will spend all my time working to make sure it succeeds.
from the moment i met
@KeoneHD,
@_jhunsaker, and
@0x_eunice, i could tell they were the right founders to lead such an ambitious engineering project.
they had a clear goal: maximize evm performance on minimum hardware to maintain sufficient decentralization.
the team is laser focused on this goal and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. besides take a shortcut.
a complete redesign of the evm from scratch is a massive undertaking. i knew this would take time - but all good things take time. we are trying to build something that lasts the rest of our lives.
that is what i admire most about the team. the long term thinking is refreshing. it gets me excited about crypto again. this mindset is contagious and has attracted an all star team of people with similar values.
there is no shortage of critics on crypto twitter: took too long to launch, no one wants another L1, vc bad, [insert chain] is faster, fiverr community, etc.
it’s not unjustified. i’ve watched crypto twitter become increasingly cynical and transactional over time. people chase short term gains and don’t seem to believe in the future of the industry.
the base assumption now is everything is a scam, make your bag and get out.
but the monad team still believes in the future of crypto.
we want to end this cycle of short term thinking. we want to play long term games with long term people. we want crypto to last forever.
this gives me hope for the future.
there are people who still care about crypto. people who truly believe in the ethos. these are the people i want to work with.
so if you’ve written off monad for one of the aforementioned reasons, i encourage you to do your own research.
read the docs. take some time to learn about what is being built and why it matters. don’t take a parroted opinion as fact.
because monad is not vaporware.
years of novel engineering and research are not being performed for no reason.
it is being built because it truly matters.
a decentralized, censorship resistant, scalable blockchain is our only hope of maintaining financial freedom and protecting human rights in an increasingly digital world.
financial freedom underpins your human rights. you can’t buy property, pay for a platform, or escape to a new country without money.
if someone can freeze your money, they can freeze your human rights.
blockchain unironically fixes this.
a permissionless system where anyone can transact freely, anywhere in the world, at any time.
in order to realize this vision, the system must be able to scale to the entire world while maintaining decentralization.
that is the purpose of monad.
if you believe in this vision and want to get involved, feel free to DM me.
whether you’re a dev, trader, artist, researcher, rapper, or anything else, i am happy to help you get involved.
if you’re building an app, i can help you with socials, growth, fundraising, connect you to partners, and anything else you may need.
if you’re a user, i can hold your hand through onboarding and answer any questions.
i’m here to make the decentralized future a reality sooner rather than later. and i hope that you are too.
because if not us, then who will?
thanks for reading this. congrats, you still have an attention span!
