as an editor we did pretty good, hit some big numbers and were burning through more than 10B tokens just yesterday
the sad part is, we got out executed and out gunned by our competition
some of my most memorable memories:
- being SOTA on swebench twice
- learning about the internals of VSCode and syncing those changes upstream when we could
- people coming over to our discord surprised by how good the agent is compared to everyone else
- fighting smut content on our servers (XD)
so what's next?
we as a team know how to ship fast (real fast) and iterate quickly, we will be taking a stand against Devin and believe our agent is truly special (pun intended).
To everyone who has used Aide and supported us, I want to say thank you. It was a tremendous challenge which Naresh and I took on ourselves and started back in 2023 and kept at it until earlier this year.
we will share about our agent_farm and what is in store for the future of AI codegen tools :) I am personally very excited about this space and will share more soon

A few weeks back, I took a stab at understanding what it takes to build a lightweight app builder - from prompt to previews. Turns out, with a sandbox (thanks @daytonaio!), durable objects and Claude Code, you can get there in half a day ⚡️

Claude can code, but most setups trap it in a chat window.
We made it real: a @Daytona sandbox behind a @Cloudflare Worker, running a live React + Vite project. Claude edits files directly, sees previews update live, and keeps state across sessions.

After 6 hours of debugging absurd NPM errors, I'm so convinced we're extremely far from fully autonomous AI coding, especially using today's programming languages and tools. And on the other, there's a sobering realisation that I'm trying to make that happen — lots of work to do!

After countless conversations following our SOTA results on SWE-Bench-lite, we've broken down the benchmark as a guide to anyone building coding agents!

I have been giving them the benefit of the doubt all along but not this time. Pointing everyone to the 'source repo' where everyone has been enthusiastically opening issues and PRs, but not using it isn't even remotely in the spirit of Open Source. @SetuAarogya address this ASAP.

Some QOL improvements to Aide:
You can now minimise the CMD+K palette by pressing Esc when the agents are working, and shift your focus elsewhere💃 And if you cancel while the agents are only partly done, edits made until then are kept around for you to review 💁

I just realised VSCode's codebase, more than 10 years old at this point, is roughly 12M+ tokens. Axios, equally old, <50k. Zed ~3M.
And we already have models supporting 2M context + caching. Keeping effective 'reasoning' at this length aside for a bit — this is game changing 🤯
