Transactions on
@Liquid_BTC are picking up again thanks to a SUPER clever new wallet with Lightning integration.
Today
@AquaBitcoin launched their mobile wallet on iOS and Android. Another Bitcoin wallet? Really?
That was my first thought too.
The big innovation is around this tab below titled "Layer 2 Bitcoin"
This is an abstracted account that can effortlessly handle both Liquid and Lightning payments.
The big unlock here is powered by
@Boltzhq on the backend.
Everything in this Layer 2 account lives on Liquid as L-BTC.
Want to receive Lightning sats? Send an invoice. The Lightning sats are received and auto-converted to L-BTC.
Sending a Lightning payment? Scan a QR code or paste an invoice and once again, Boltz will auto-convert from L-BTC to Lightning and send sats to the destination.
Boltz acts as a swap and Lightning service provider in the background of the wallet. All non-custodial through atomic swaps.
The benefits of having these on Liquid:
✅ Confidential transactions (+1 privacy)
✅ Low fees (Don't have to hit mainchain)
✅ 1-minute block times
✅ Liquidity limits much higher between user and Boltz
This is a REALLY clean user experience.
There also might be a huge design space for L2s with BTC on the chain to solve many of the issues with Lightning.
Essentially acting as a middleware layer.
Great job
@AquaBitcoin and
@Boltzhq 👏
