Paying a regtest Lightning invoice using a Bark VTXO and LDK's client-side pathfinding. The payment details are computed on-device and turned into an onion. The Bark LN gateway then simply becomes a dumb relay.

Bitcoin payments should be simple. 👇
I've been building a payment processor around barkd. - Charges API + webhooks - Checkout with Lightning, Ark, and on-chain QRs - API keys, event log, admin dashboard Self-hosted. Self-custodial. No liquidity to manage. Would you use this to accept bitcoin on your website?

Researching using @lightningdevkit's client-side payment pathfinding for Bark wallets. Instead of relying on Bark's LN gateway to create a payment route, gossip data is pulled remotely and the route is computed on-device. The gateway is then handed a blinded onion to ship off.

OZark wallet launching on Bark. 🇫🇷 Like the "Ozark" mountains in America, which comes from the french "aux Arcs" (of the Arcs).
Thread 👇

Lifecycle of a Bark VTXO, from the round transaction to final sweep: 1. watch a VTXO get spent in an Ark payment, 2. offboard funds to onchain, 3. and refresh into the next timeout tree. Timeout trees come and go, but the funds in VTXOs live on via "hash-locked" refreshes.

Sleek. It amazes me how many cats they have helped get into BOSS! Keep building, and thanks, Vinteum, for the great programs, mentorship, and fellowship that were crucial for me to get going into this amazing field. 🚀🚀🚀 If you don't know much about Vinteum yet, check out their new website. If you do know them, check it out either way. It is worth it to get to know their fellows, the programs offered, and the whole Bitcoin ecosystem they have been building in Brazil.
A serious website was long overdue. We redesigned vinteum.org to better tell the story of what we’ve been building: funding, training, and supporting open-source Bitcoin developers and researchers in Brazil. Check it out: vinteum.org

cool animation!
Bark wallets create offchain state that needs continuous backups in case your phone is lost. How the Bark ecosystem is solving it is through encrypted snapshotting for every wallet update, whether it's receiving sats, refreshing VTXOs, or offboarding from the Ark. For typical consumer spending, the Bark wallet database remains small enough to do complete snapshots to the user's iCloud or Google Drive. So if you lose your phone, you can always restore your Bark wallet back and keep on enjoying instant Bitcoin payments.

UX is one of the biggest issues with Bitcoin and we're tackling it at @secondhq.
had to use cryptocurrency today; it's still unusable, UXs are a disaster, workflows confusing and risk-prone, a million ways to accidentally lose your money... why would anyone use that?

Receive via Lightning, for example, and get a VTXO. Click on it to view its details, or select it to perform actions such as refresh, offboard, or emergency exit.

On Bark (@secondhq), our entire emergency exit system relies on Gloria’s work on transaction relay. Our Layer 2 would simply not exist in such transparent shape without that

[ANIMATION] The Ark round signing ceremony, simplified. The Ark server (the captain) coordinates the round participants, and they cosign the tree together. They are given VXTOs, which are the outputs of the "leaf_txs" at the tips of the tree branches.

Noah doesn't miss a beat when keeping up with releases.
Noah v0.1.3 is out which runs bark 0.3.0. - Background vtxo refreshes are much less likely to break. - A bug where the app is broken on iOS 27 beta is fixed. - The app now uses Noah server for fetching fiat conversion rates instead of external providers and we added 4 more currencies Pending approval from overlords at Apple and Google.

Any existing LN wallet can use Bark to swap-out to VTXOs for channel balancing purposes. Receiving on the Bark side is free (aside from routing fees). You then only have to consider the VTXO refresh (can be free) and LN sending fee.
