I don’t know who I’ll vote for tomorrow.
But, when I head to the polling station in my hometown of Telford, I know who I 𝙬𝙤𝙣’𝙩 be voting for:
Shaun Davies (Labour).
As Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, Shaun tried for years to block an inquiry into CSE in Telford, downplayed the scale of abuse and still avoids responsibility for his council’s failings.
In response to the damming Telford report, Shaun tried to deny any culpability by stating that: “I was three years of age [when CSE was going on]”.
He has been a Cabinet Member since 2011, and Council Leader since 2016.
He was part of the establishment.
He was part of the problem.
For years, Shaun resisted calls for an independent inquiry, and still fails to directly acknowledge the Council’s failure to protect girls from abuse.
In 2016, responding to calls for an independent inquiry into CSE in Telford, Shaun and 9 other powerful local men (dubbed the ‘Telford Ten’) even penned a letter to the Home Secretary, saying:
“We do not feel at this time a further inquiry is necessary.”
He only backtracked due to significant public pressure.
Telford.
Rotherham.
Rochdale.
Oldham.
Banbury.
Labour continues to promote the very people who stood by and did nothing while thousands of little girls were being systematically groomed, raped, and abused by Pakistani-Muslim gangs.
Over 1,000 innocent girls in Telford — and countless more in Labour-led areas across the country — suffered because those in power prioritised their own reputations over the protection of vulnerable children.
The local Labour Party, with Council Leader Shaun Davies at the helm, turned a blind eye to vulnerable children and treated Telford like their own personal playground for far too long.
In my opinion, no one that played a part in the denial of or failure to address child sexual exploitation is fit for public office.
Telford deserves better.
Britain deserves better.
