"The notion that taxing Lesotho gemstones is necessary for the U.S. to add steel jobs in Ohio is so absurd that I briefly lost consciousness in the middle of writing this sentence." This piece is a perfect explanation of the tariff insanity.
A lot of folks want to argue for a future-world that doesn't yet exist, in which the Trump tariffs guide us to a perfect equilibrium for US growth. But the tariff plan announced yesterday does exist. We can read it. It does not make sense and is not defensible on its own terms.

Dude it is just repo (i.e. short-term collateralized lending) being done by the @NewYorkFed - either @BernieSanders is being deliberately misleading or he’s ignorant
When we say it's time to provide health care to all our people, we're told we can't afford it. But if the stock market is in trouble, no problem! The government can just hand out $1.5 trillion to calm bankers on Wall Street.

This is the wrong take. It is actually a very low error rate. Every big program will have some waste/errors/fraud - in fact, if there is too little of this, the program design is too restrictive, and people who need aid won’t get it. See: Type 1 v Type 2 errors.

When we named #InclusiveAbundance, we chose the words deliberately. On the surface, it’s obvious - we want abundance to include everyone, everywhere in America. But it goes deeper than that - the #Abundance movement is ideologically inclusive, inclusive of seemingly disparate intellectual communities and advocacy groups, and inclusive across many sectors and segments of our society. That was exactly what made #Abundance2024 so great!
Since the election, there's been a lot of talk about abundance as a path forward for Democrats. Our @DylanGyauchL followed the money for @TheProspect and found a lot of ties between the centrist groups pushing abundance and oil and Big Tech.

The more I think about this tired trope from @marcorubio and @SenMikeLee, the angrier I get. The data suggest they are wrong. Common sense suggests they are wrong. The work disincentives of 80s “welfare” programs aren’t present here. It’s all just about ignoring kids in poverty.
!! GOP Sens. Rubio & Lee come out swinging against Romney child benefits plan: "We do not support turning the Child Tax Credit into ... a ‘child allowance,’ paid out as a universal basic income" "That is not tax relief for working parents; it is welfare assistance"
