Sold out. I don’t have many words, just a heart about to explode. To everyone who collected, shared, reached out, or simply took the time with the work: thank you. I felt every bit of support. To the team at @verse_works, thank you for making this possible and for believing in the first series of an artist just starting his journey. This means more than I can say. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

The Goose is imo the most recognizable *single* piece of contemporary generative art. Like when I think of Fidenza, Squiggles, and Autoglyphs, I think of the amazing algorithm and the collection as a whole, but not a single outstanding piece. Ringers has that. The Goose has now become a symbol of this space. Can't wait to see for how much it goes this Thursday!

I'm excited to announce I'm minting my first collection! Thrilled to introduce to you: For Friends For Friends will be a collection of 360 portraits that will combine generative systems of photography, coding, and AI. Minting one piece every two weeks (ish), the project will take over 13 years to complete! Can't state how excited I am about it. Now, about the pieces: The meme was absolutely right. "Maybe The Real Treasure Was the Friends We Made Along the Way" Each piece will be GIFTED to the friend being photographed 🎁 The friends I've made in the space have given me so much that it just felt natural to give back. Each piece will consist of three parts. - A part involving generative photography 📷 - A part involving generative coding 🧑‍💻 - A part involving generative AI 🤖 I'll try to give a short TL;DR for each. ― Generative Photography ― I've been intrigued by the idea of instruction-based artwork for a while. Duchamp and Sol LeWitt are just a couple of the various artists who have played with this concept before. The base for For Friends is precisely that, an instruction. I like to think about it as if it were an algorithm made for humans, where the magic relies on the interpretation each of us gives to what the instruction says (and what it doesn’t). The prompt is: “Take a medium close-up shot of a friend where the body and look are centered, facing at the camera, and where the background is blurry.” Clear enough to know what to do. Ambiguous enough to play with the interpretation. ― Generative AI ― Now, generative AI comes in. We're living in the age of the AI revolution and wanted to incorporate this element into the equation. At the same time, I wanted the background of the portrait to add to the story of the photograph (hence the medium close-up shot). So what I decided to do was to add more background on the sides via generative AI filling. This part will be curated but not edited at all. This way we'll be able to compare the difference between current AI outputs and future ones. I'm sure it'll be fascinating. Truth is, even if AI looks amazing today, can't imagine what it will look like +10 years from now. Also, in the end, all pieces of the collection will have a 13:6 aspect ratio, which I think balances the weight of the subject and the background properly. ― Generative Code ― The final part is incorporating the coding part. I created a short p5 script that The Friend needs to run to randomly select a color. There are 360 pieces in the collection because each one of them will be assigned a hue of the HSB color system. This color will be used as a filter and will be applied to the portrait, thus, finishing the piece. It is now ready to be minted. ... So in summary (and in fancy words), For Friends will be an exploration of the evolution of technology over time, the visual narrative of ingenuous reinterpretations of a singular artistic instruction, and the unique intersection of the personal and the digital, encapsulating the essence of evolving friendships and my own artistic pathway. Again, can't state how excited I am about For Friends. I have no clue who will be in the space in +13 years, but I'm damn sure I'll be here to capture it. You will definitely see some familiar faces in the portraits year after year 👀 The first and last token will be a portrait of myself, more than 13 years apart. Next week I'll mint the first one. And that's it! Thank you for making it all the way to the end, and looking forward to the first year of For Friends 🫡

The last interview of the year! 🫡 I had the pleasure to talk with @williamapan about enjoying the ride, his creative process, and artistic expression 🎨 Really enjoyed his insights, but here are some of my favorite ones: // What is something you wish someone had told you before becoming an artist? “Easy! Being a full-time artist is not only about creating. You have to wear so many hats that it can be overwhelming. Be sure to know that before embarking on this journey, and enjoy the ride!” // What’s the hardest part of being an artist? - “Freedom of creation! And that’s why I believe anyone can work on their artistic self. Anyone has a voice that wants to express itself.” // What skill should anyone harvest early in their career that will pay off massively for years? - “Patience. Sometimes I realize that’s one nice skill that keeps me going for so long. Failures and successes are highly connected. One is necessary for the other to exist. So, for me, taking anything as an opportunity to learn something is very powerful!” - The full interview is filled with gems tbh. You can find it below!

Another month, another interview 🫡 I had the pleasure of talking with @GrantYun2, one of the artists from whom I've learned the most in the space. He shared his thoughts on hard work, being original with your art, and your duty to share your creations, among other gems. Here are some of my favorite insights: // What skill should anyone harvest early in their career that will pay off massively for years? "Find a unique style, don’t blatantly imitate another artist. Originality stands alone." // What do you benefit the most when working with NFTs and the blockchain? "Expanding my reach as an artist. Digital artists have never been the face of fine art. However, as the world becomes more digital, blockchain allows for new conversations and narratives to be built, ones that will be so well integrated into our society that I believe they will become a leading face of fine art." // What is one thing you think artists should focus more on, and why? "Less focus on the masses, more focus on yourself. The vision for your art should come from within. Sometimes I think art is a direct reaction to what is happening in the world; however, much of art I believe should be created from one’s own personal vision and not be shaped by the pressure of others. What are the reasons you create? What do you want your vision and message to be? Be confident in your approach and the message you have for the world, otherwise you will be chasing trends and having other people dictate what type of art you make." --- The full interview is below! Enjoy 💚 (Mentioned in the interview: @nathanielstern)

Another month, another interview 🫡 Had the pleasure of talking with one of the most successful and interesting artists from the space, @otherworld_xx. He shared his thoughts on what it takes to become a great creator, the power of learning from successful artists, and his fascination with music as a creative enhancer, along with other gems. Here are some of my favorite insights: // What is something you wish someone had told you before becoming an artist? "Success in art is no different than any other career choice. Hard work, sacrifice, and complete dedication to your craft is the only way you will ever “rise to the top” and sustain it. This being said, success, especially financial success, is a byproduct, not the main goal. If you focus on creating the best art and story that you can for both yourself and the audience you are presenting it to, financial success will follow." // What is one thing you think artists should focus more on, and why? "The literal art itself should be the primary focus. Artists should visit galleries and museums to see what kinds of art meet the criteria to reach such levels of public success (if that is what they want of course). Look at the most successful artists in our space. Look at their work ethic. Look at their story. Look at how their work stands out among the rest. This being said, do not copy an artist's work, but do take inspiration and use their model as a general guideline for your own art and direction." // What advice would you give to someone just starting their journey as an artist? "Study the successful artists. Use their success as a general model and take the parts that make sense with your own personal journey. Create art that is true to you and will stand out today as well as in 100+ years." -- The full interview is below! Enjoy ❤️ (Mentioned in the interview: @SamSpratt @lphaCentauriKid @GrantYun2 @0xTjo)

Another month, another interview 🫡 This time I had the pleasure of talking with @dangiuz, whose futuristic work has become one of the most recognizable in the digital art world. He shared his thoughts on skill, proving oneself, and following your artistic vision. Here are some of my favorite insights: // What is one thing you think artists should focus more on, and why? "Enjoying art. Some artists end up feeling like they "have" to do art just because they have to, considering their past, history, public figure, etc. But if you are not absolutely enjoying doing art, I believe you're doing it wrong." // What advice would you give to someone just starting their journey as an artist? "Explore as much as you can. Don't write off any medium if you haven't tried it yet. You might never know what you are good at or what you might have some natural inclination for, be it drawing, 3D, photography, or anything else." // What is one strong opinion you have? "I believe there is no such thing as "too much art" for an artist's 'supply'. Art is for everyone and we are 8 billion on this planet. I would NEVER worry about such a thing." --- The full interview is below! Enjoy 💙
