I had this intuitively wrong for decades, I think due to a pervasive cultural veneration of intelligence, various entertainment/media, obsession with IQ etc. Agency is significantly more powerful and significantly more scarce. Are you hiring for agency? Are we educating for agency? Are you acting as if you had 10X agency?

i’ve been meaning to write this for years. this is long due.
i was born in Goa, India - a tiny state with no real exposure to tech, no startup scene, no fancy schools. people around me didn’t expect much. but when i was 7, i stumbled across a website that would change everything: @codeorg ❤️ (thankfully due to two awesome folks who did a workshop in my tiny state)
what you built — the vision behind it, the simplicity, the access — it *quietly sparked* something in me. with just a computer and curiosity, i started building. and i never stopped.
because of that spark, i ended up:
- building a project which got $7million in TVL at 13
- building and exiting my first crypto startup at 14
- worked at Solana Labs, FTX Ventures and LayerZero
- joining Eigen Labs and working on several engineering projects since 15
- getting my O1 at 16 and moving across the world 🇺🇸
none of that happens without code dot org. no exaggeration.
you didn’t just teach me how to code - you made me believe i could. and that belief was more valuable than any tutorial or language.

hard call: i’m not going to college next year
many on this platform have been invested in when i will go to college (or if i’ll dropout). so felt like sharing this update
i’m in love with what i do and i owe it to the system that let me start young
early this year, i was confused with what is my objective. i was wondering why am i in this industry.
and while listening to this talk, i heard @sreeramkannan say this to @alive_ : “a 13 yo kid from India was able to get $7million in his app - it’s because blockchains are unstoppable verifiable computers. they didn’t have to trust this kid, they just had to make sure the blockchain is running correctly”
this phrase gave me deep memory flashbacks of everything and where i come from. that’s also the second where i understood why sreeram says our 30yr goal is to build humanity’s coordination engine
more trust = more flexible coordination

but mainly, i can’t take a break until i bring meritocracy to everyone

yesterday — i noticed smth
the newer generation aka gen alpha shouldn’t be given phones at a young age
three days back - in a mall lift - i saw a kid scrolling pathetic reels at <5-10 second attention span
yesterday smth else happened. and i came to a conclusion.
internet was a superpower for me, although there was all kinds of distractions online and yeah. i did play games.
i wasn’t given my independent device until age of 9-10ish
and i noticed another thing — until 9 - i was raised with strong good values and religious values from home to school. all those values which are at the core of my heart and mind.
kids these days:
a) dont get the time to be taught this — there’s all in on reels etc
b) they don’t listen to their parents bc of the content they’ve absorbed from these reels (now content can be good too but i haven’t seen any positive ones)
c) i strongly feel kids shows were really valuable
they were a timepass but they had some meaning and lessons back-then (Chhota Bheem, Luv-Kush, Doraemon)
