As a kid who ate off food stamps, it took me A LOT of applications to YC to get accepted (a decade worth, actually) - while getting offers from YC companies to work there (never did) before getting accepted & when I was, the company I was a part of became listed on YCs website as 1 of the top 100 most valuable YC companies.
Compare this story to your avg YC founder, I think you’ll find this comment rings more true than not.
That doesn’t mean if you’re working the carnival you can’t sneak out on lunch break, borrow some money & toss darts to get that same thrill. Only that it’s that much harder.

Hard disagree. My friends & I run an infra product that does 3b+ requests monthly in our free time from Miami. None of us have worked in Silicon Valley for the last decade.

If you are worried about your “jumpy” resume, don’t be. Do what is right for you.
I often see resumes where someone has worked at 6 companies over the last 10 years.
I'm staring at one right now. These job-hoppers usually last a little under 2yrs per company on average.
If someone has a jumpy resume, it's the first thing I notice. It's so blatant to me, yet it continues to fool a lot of people.
Thinking back over the last 15yrs at my companies:
I've hired thousands of people, and I can't think of a single person I've hired with a jumpy resume who has worked out long-term. Not one.

I remember the first time I went to SF it was actually for a TechCrunch event in 2008 & I was blown away by the awesome people doing awesome things.
So hyped Miami is now that place!!
Just returned from a trip to Miami. The positivity and energy are off the charts. Feels like Silicon Valley in the mid 90s or 2005 when I started TechCrunch. The contrast to SF/Seattle is stark. Thank you, Miami, for the very warm reception. Life felt normal again.
