🧵I ran a test to find out how Vercel Fluid compute behaves and here's what you must know: 1/5 When using Fluid Compute (I think enabled by default now), it seems like one could reuse a Singleton, like e.g. a db connection with postgres. This is true AND false. 👇

Marc is making ~60k month. He paid Jonas 300 USD for silently reporting a security vuln for sth that could've cost him much more, if even just revenue loss. Yet he seems to convince people that's cool. I'm struggling end of month with money yet trying to keep up my 300 USD donations to OSS because I think it's the right thing. Not to mention that that site/app of Marc is illegal in the EU and he knows that but doesn't do anything about it. You guys got weird idols.

Not gonna lie: @supabase changed my coding life. The struggle w/ setting up infra was real. Sure, there were other SaaS such as Firebase etc. But: I need my tools to be trustworthy, to be community-close, to be reachable, easy-to-use. Supabase is the best balance of those.

this is also a problem of mentality tbh. Imo a data breach like this should come with legal costs so hard it can break your company. Money is the only way to get companies adhere to protecting user data. I lately stated in another thread: Even if someone tells you "I learned driving as a kid, I can perfectly drive" and even if that is true, that person STILL must gain a "drivers license". Hence, why can everybody deploy an app to production on the web?

tl;dr for people that don't want to read: MS proposes a syntax that will be like comments allowing to write something like `function(a: string)` and `: string` is ignored at runtime. This will allow cleaner type writing no matter if Flow/TypeScript whatever without JSDoc.

Disagree. Exposing customer data and hence damaging customers safety for the sake of "break fast" is something that should not exist. You're thinking of "break fast" in terms of bugs. However what Marc did, and there are many people on this platform that have exposed this, is adding huge and massive security loopholes which normal developers would _never_ have because they were all due to him being a junior coder. It's like if I started building an airplane and the first 20 airplanes fall from the sky and I be like "lol don't be mad, at least I build an airplane, break fast"

I gotta get some truth words on this and I'm not even joking: Supabase has changed my life. First and foremost as a developer and as a nice side-effect becoming more of a content creator. When I chose Supabase it didn't have Edge functions, it didn't have AI, it was just a good, easy-to-deploy Database with a nice API. But, the authenticity and the Open Source approach gave me the feeling required to rely on it - and I wasn't disappointed ever since. Also: Despite other big well-known frameworks you might use, the Supabase codebase is, given its separation of concerns, easy to get into. It's just a very very well-made match. So as long as @supabase won't sell their soul to one of the big corps for money only, you won't get me to hate Supabase ever.
Hung out with @snowmaker today and he shared an interesting stat about the upcoming @ycombinator batch: They ask applicants “what are you using to build your startup”. Applicants who use @supabase are 3x more likely to get into the batch Probably because they build faster 🚀
