Lydian Labs, MY Blockchain Week, and its leadership denies all the recent allegations made against us on the compromised official Malaysia Blockchain Week (
@MalaysiaWeek) account on X, formerly known as Twitter. These allegations were made by a disgruntled ex-committee member who unilaterally changed the passwords of all social media accounts belonging to MYBW and added a 2-factor authentication, which allows only him to access those accounts, essentially locking out the currently operating MYBW committee. We have subsequently lodged a police report over the post and followed up with legal action.
MY Blockchain Week (MYBW) was always a labour of love and passion for the community and a way for Malaysia to make its mark in the global Web 3 sphere. It is a collective effort by a group of Web3 enthusiasts to push the initiative forward. Taking comparison of all first iterations of blockchain week events across the world, it is almost not possible to be profitable. The team was struggling to even break even in the first place, resulting in downscaling the originally planned production three times. However, we are grateful to all our sponsors, support from our Ministry of Tourism, and from the ticketing sales to help us push it through to make the dream a reality.
As 2024 marked the inaugural first MYBW to be launched, there would undoubtedly be oversight on certain aspects. However, we emphasize that all decisions made were the best possible and that all committee members would have been made aware of these decisions.
The success of MYBW 2024 has fuelled the committee’s passion to continue the event in the following year, and we are already in the midst of planning for MYBW 2025.
However, this enthusiasm has been dampened by the allegations brought up by this ex-committee. As the team has been faced with no way to resolve the issue amicably, Lydian Labs has lodged a police report against the slanderous accusations and served a legal letter of demand for this action against us, as attached.
We wish to also draw attention to the untrue statements mentioned and provide the following responses, i.e., Inflow and outflow of funds, which are captured in a centralised sheet accessible by all committees to date, including him. Our ex-committee member, John had voluntarily withdrawn himself from the position in writing, while payment for Max has been scheduled to pay off after receipt of reimbursement from myCEB, a subsidiary of Tourism Malaysia, while more have been responded to further in the document attached.
We urge this ex-committee member to return ownership of MYBW social accounts, which is an asset built and owned by MY Blockchain Week Sdn Bhd, and we want to reassure everyone that Lydian Labs and MY Blockchain Week remains committed to its mission of promoting blockchain innovation and collaboration in Malaysia and beyond. We will not be deterred by these unfounded claims and will continue working to build a vibrant and inclusive blockchain ecosystem.
The statements made by the ex-committee member in question are untrue and defamatory. This was a one-man action and not a collective one. Hence, our rights are hereby reserved if any Defamatory Statements remain unidentified.
