Not to rain on the parade. But this is important. After last night's election, people are acting like it's all new. And I get it for younger generations that don't know. BUT, hell, Obama ran on tuition-free college, universal healthcare, and living wages, closing down GITMO and ending forever wars. He didn't do it, but he ran on it, because it was popular. The Democratic Party KNOWS these policies are popular. They've always known. Their centrist stance is a form of gaslighting. Left policies are ALWAYS popular; that's NEVER been the problem. The Democratic Party DOES often roll out candidates that appear to shift to the left, but only every election cycle, then they shift right when they come into power. AOC is wrong. Third parties are required to run POTUS & gain 2-5% to meet state party requirements in most states, to even run down-ballot. What's "unserious" is the Dems have abandoned the 50-state strategy, leaving 65% of seats UNCONTESTED down-ballot this year alone.

A little history lesson that's prescient: The Whig Party was the liberal party in the 1800s. During fights for abolition, a third party arose that was anti-slavery. The Whig party coined the terms "spoiler vote," "purity test," and "lesser-evil," to demonize abolitionist voters, as the liberal Whigs argued that anti-slavery was too extreme and that we needed "more humane slavery." That people should vote for the Whigs because the right-wing Democrat party was the "greater evil." Aristocrats ran the Whigs and were disconnected from everyday people. They embraced a policy that secured THEIR own wealth. Abolitionists started building. Refused to vote for the Whigs. Built a 3rd party. Eventually, Abraham Lincoln, the underdog 3rd party candidate won. In this last election, liberals argued that a red line on genocide and mass atrocities was a "purity test." That wanting universal healthcare was too much. That being against wars, mass deportation, and police militarization was "extreme." Those who gaslit and lied to run cover for horrific war crimes were minimized to the "lesser evil." Liberals claimed voting 3rd party was a "spoiler vote," sounds familiar, right? This is how liberals inadvertently normalize the zeitgeist that buttresses authoritarianism and inhumane policy. They helped normalize Trump. If we learned from history, maybe we wouldn't repeat it. Blame toward voters is misdirected. The DNC had a choice to embrace basic humane policies and refused.

Why do people do videos on things they don't know anything about? What makes them SO CONFIDENT to parrot shallow propaganda? I don't get it. 1. AGAIN: Dems abandon the 50-state strategy. Defuned 17 state houses in 15 yrs, abandoning blue states and handing them to the GOP. They leaving 65% of seats down the ballot uncontested this year. Blows his building power narrative out of the water. Yet no mainstream media reports on this. 2. There needs to be a party to challenge the GOP. Dems sure as HELL aren't. 3. WFP IS NOT A REGISTERED PARTY. They are an arm of the Dems. And they ROLL OVER. 4. YES third parties CAN gain different kinds of power, even before we are able to get rank choice everywhere. There's a lot more I can say. But that's a start. So confident. Yet so uninformed. SO f-n frustrating.
Every four years, some third-party presidential candidates appear, eager to cash in on genuine frustrations with our political system. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen this time.

Or, "you can't let the horrible things in the world affect you." I just thought, WOW, what a place of privilege. It blames those in generational poverty, suffering genocides, suffering domestic violence, health crises, and others as just not "manifesting hard enough." It also signals to others that it's perfectly spiritually healthy to ignore the suffering of others. This form of narcissistic spirituality isn't loving or joyful. It's materialistic, shallow, and dehumanizing. It's often just wealthy people trying to rationalize their station as divine. It's toxic.

I just got evicted. Landlord talked down to me the whole time, asking me why I can't find work. I am only 10 days late this month. She said, "You can't find a job with all these help-wanted signs everywhere?" She said she's had to "get rid of ppl like me." It was horrible.

Many of these Christian MAGA would have called the ICE hotline on Mary and Joseph if they had stopped at the Inn, when they escaped Herod's mandate. "I don't care if you are pregnant, follow the larws you illegulls."

So, they are angry that Egypt is assembling "obstructions" that could "hinder Israeli operations" within Egyptian borders?

It's disgusting that your response to what is happening now is, "told you so." By the way, her policy on Israel was unwavering support. So, it's niave as hell to believe she would stop funding these horrors.

Cheney had an 11% approval rating when he left office. He's universally hated. The only one "accelerating" anything is the Dem party strategy and bad policy. And, neoliberals thinking neocon policy wins, b/c they are out of touch. Same tired strategy that often loses.

Neoliberal Dems: "You are stupid." "You don't know basic civics. Do you know how elections work?" Goes on to make an argument not rooted in any fact. I get it. Propaganda is wild right now. People are under informed. But the sheer arrogance is exhausting.

Kamala supporters who say Butch Ware's comments are "disqualifying," BUT are STILL willing to back Harris, despite her complicity in mass atrocities is staggering. I respect Butch's comments being a redline. But this hypocrisy is off the charts. And, dehumanizing.

She looks young and the fact that she already lost her parents. Life expectancy is dropping. We are losing our loved ones. It's generational suffering. I recently lost my Mom, and she did everything right too, yet struggled. My heart was wrenching, I related so much to this.

That's because the Dem party is the GOP of the early 2000s now. He wants to go back to when people ignored that Clinton rolled back Glass Stegall. Or when Obama privatized prisons, Medicaid. The good ol' days, when they could feign benevolence while handing the GOP everything.

It's not a "two-party system." It's an undemocratic monopoly that works for the same interests. And those interests aren't the people.

I expect her to talk about policies while she has this platform. M4A, fed. jobs guarantee. I expect her not gaslight and kiss Kamala's ass so shamelessly. It's okay to expect more out of our representative instead of just, "what did you expect?"

Why are you a journalist that is lumping an entire swath of people into one category? My goal in voting Stein is: 1. Voting against two candidates who both support mass deportations, police militarization, cop cities, criminalizing protesters, austerity politics, election engineering, poisioning my community w more fracking and pipelines, and Project 2025. 2. 2% in my state means the ability to start a state party. The DNC abandoned once blue KY, b/c we are poor. Left it in the hands of the GOP when they defunded the 50-state strategy. Now 79% of down ballot races are uncontested. This isn't as shallow as Trump or Harris. It's far more complex. It's about trying to fight the fascism of BOTH major parties that are crippling regions like mine, and are complicit in mass atrocities abroad. To downplay the severity of where we are now is what is harmful. We are suffering and dying out here, Mehdi. The onus is on the Dems to do better. Not on us that are sick of poverty, death, and being thrown under the bus.
When I interviewed Stein, she refused to concede this point - that she can't win! - so am glad her people are now being honest about their goal. Stopping Harris. Not Trump. I just wish they'd be honest about that. They're not anti Harris *and* anti Trump. They're anti Harris.

RFK lied. There's a huge difference in donations from a fry cook at McDonalds and donations from CEOs and corporate PACs. Bernie's donations, according to Open secrets. Zero corporate PAC money. Unlike RFK who put his billionaire donors as his running mate.

We can't wait 'till the next election cycle to raise a "ruckus." The political system breeds ego, corruption, and desperation for relevance. Can't let the "progressives," who are nothing but regular ol' Dems, make us lose focus on what matters. We must organize today. END🧵

MY daughter is 14. She was talking about how it's interesting that exploitative elites (especially in the right wing) will reference movies like Star Wars, Dune, or Lord of the Rings, and twist it. With zero self-reflection. She said, "we need more movies that don't use analogies and just say the thing."
