Melissa Hortman was an undeniably impressive leader. She also was pretty darn funny. We disagreed on most policy, but my last interaction with her was in a meeting with all the Governor, his commissioners, Speaker Demuth, and Majority Leader Murphy. I was fighting for my maltreatment camera bill that was being vigorously opposed in negotiations. She was very thoughtful and she helped figure out a deal to make it happen.
She was a real human. You don't always find that in high profile politicians. I had the chance to talk with her during a late night floor debate at the end of last session. I asked her if she liked her job and we had a wonderful conversation and I got to show her gorgeous pictures of Sibyl. Her absence will be felt for years in the House.

Today, I was discussing Speaker Hortman's intense funeral security with a good friend of mine. They made a joke "Well you never know if @Tim_Walz is going to send another Assassin". They immediately knew they crossed a line by the look my face.
I mostly* kept my composure and explained to them how that trivializes the heinous killing of a great Minnesotan. They completely understood and apologized profusely.
I think that conversation made a lasting difference. You can stand up for respect and decency without public shaming and banishment. You just have to genuinely assume good intent, unless proven otherwise, and search for understanding, not vengeance.

We can do 3 easy things to prevent fraud in CCAP.
1. If a provider receives more than half a million in taxpayer dollars through CCAP. They need more site inspections and monitoring.
2. Attendance records should be electronic and updated in real time.
3. Falsification of records should carry the penalty of perjury.
We tax our residents more than nearly every state. The LEAST we could do is make sure their money isn't given to fraudsters.

This is the exact wrong thing to do. If someone moves in the right direction it shouldn't be met with more outrage. We have to create an INCENTIVE to do the right thing. If correcting a mistake doesn't help, there is no incentive. If we want a better world, we have to be better.
Never let up on Mike Lee. Never let this man experience a single day of peace in his life. He has forfeited that right. This should be a bipartisan issue. This man has chosen to become a monster who serves no one but himself. People on the left and right should be outraged.

These monsters tortured our baby. They were the "caretakers" when Sibyl was there. She was always upset and sad when we picked her up. We have pictures of unexplained bruising. Their explanations were fishy, but we never assumed the worst. We moved our baby to Primrose and she completely changed and was always cheerful. We never assumed that it was cause she was always being abused. I am learning that many other parents have the same story and this seems to have been going on for quite some time. This is absurd and infuriating and totally unacceptable.

Even more insulting, tribal interests can sell 49% of their business to raise capital vs 35% for social equity applicants in an industry where raising money is incredibly difficult.
Tribal enterprises can be truly vertically including delivery and transport licenses. Social equity applicants cannot.
Tribal entities have double the plant canopy of the "equivalent" social equity mezzo license.
Tribal entities don't have manufacturing limits unlike the "equivalent" social equity mezzo license.
They can have 5 retail stores each instead of 3.
All this AND they have no restrictions on the reservation and are allowed to sell before anyone else.
Tribal interests also get to skip the lottey.
The Democrats claimed the bill was to help those harmed by cannabis prohibition but now they will be harmed again by cannabis legalization after they try and go bankrupt in this deliberately unfair new market.
