Sen Jon Tester (D-MT) is on the Senate floor right now. He voted 97 times to filibuster legislation - the latest just last week - voted not to change the debate rule in 2011, and signed the 4/7/17 letter opposing "any effort" to change the debate rule for legislation.
In 2017, Dems attempted to filibuster Pres Trump's noms to head Depts. of State, Education, Treasury, HUD, Energy, and Homeland Security. There had NEVER been an attempt filibuster ANY president's noms to these positions.
WH Press Sec Jen Psaki says it's "unquestionable" that "federal law overrides state law." No it isn't. The feds need a power enumerated in the Constitution and delegated to them. Wanting to do something isn't enough.
Sen Schumer said the Senate was "thwarting the will of the American people" by confirming Judge Barrett. That is true only if "thwarting" means "obeying."
KBJ says she is "acutely aware" of the need for proper jurisdiction before deciding a case. Yet she was reversed multiple times - especially in cases involving the Trump administration - because she actually did not have jurisdiction. Actions speak louder than words.
WH Press Sec Psaki says the Russian invasion caused the spike in gas prices. Nat'l avg. was $2.38 when Biden took office. It had risen 48% BEFORE Russia invaded. Inconvenient truth.
Nothing is more anti-democracy than Roe v. Wade. It axed 185 yrs of legislation by the people's reps, imposed a policy far more extreme than the Am people ever supported, in the name of the people's Constitution - which says nothing about privacy or abortion! What a disaster.
84 years ago TODAY, President Franklin Roosevelt held a re-election rally in Madison Square Garden, less than two years after the Nazi rally on 2/20/39.
Hey Harris and Walz, if 85 years later is still "reminiscent," what would you call THAT???
"Can't be allowed"? By whom or by what law? The 10-year term, set in 1976, was a term limit after 48 years of Hoover. It cannot limit a president's power to dismiss those he has appointed. But I think you know that.
Same answer for the following:
*First woman to serve in both the U.S. House and Senate
*First THREE women elected to serve in a state legislature
*First Native American, black, or Latina woman to serve in a state legislature
*First woman mayor of a major city
(There's more)
Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett did not mislead anyone about anything. No Justice has ever made any prediction, commitment, promise, whatever about future or past cases. Here's my take:
heritage.org/life/commentary…
The Supreme Court today: "We know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need....[That] is not how the Second
Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self defense."
One more time. Civics 101. It takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the Senate. Republicans have 53.
53<60
The gov't shut down because Democrats did not allow a funding bill to pass. Dems are keeping the gov't shut down as a gun to Republicans' head.
How do you not know this?
Sen Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) was just on the Sen floor. She has voted to filibuster legislation 88 times - the most recent just last week - voted against changing the debate rule in 2011, and signed the 4/7/17 letter opposing "any effort" to limit extended debate on legislation.
Pres Biden said in his inaugural address that he wanted unity. Perfect opportunity would be to now give credit where it's due on the pandemic. But noooooo, he only takes credit for the shots given in the last 100 days. Where does he think the vaccine in those syringes came from?
Michigan law makes killing an animal "without just cause" a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. The Michigan Constitution protects the right to kill a human being in the womb without restriction.
Pregnancy is a natural and foreseeable consequence of sex. Everyone knows sex could result in a baby. Voluntary sex means assuming the risk and consenting to the outcome.
Sen Hirono just said that this confirmation process is "illegitimate." Oxford defines that as "not authorized by law." Not getting your way does not equal illegitimate.
It could not have been easier for Harris to hit the CNN interview out of the park: a sycophantic outlet and interviewer, wingman Walz by her side, predictable questions, etc. Yet CNN could cull no more than 18 minutes that were passable to broadcast.
Sen Hirono just said that "pretty much the minute" that Justice Gorsuch was confirmed, the Supreme Court issued its decision in Janus. Gorsuch was confirmed on 4/17/17 and Janus was decided 6/28/18. That's "pretty much 643,680 minutes later."
You are LYING. No law anywhere in America prohibits life-saving abortion. Not. One. And you know it. If your position requires such blatant lies, perhaps your position is the problem.
Sup.Ct. 1795: Const. "is fixed and certain; it contains the permanent will of the people...and can be revoked or altered only by the authority that made it."
ACB 2020: Const. has "the meaning that it had at the time people ratified it. So that meaning doesn't change over time."
Sen Joe Biden voted to filibuster bills (not noms) nearly 140 times during his 16 years in the minority. Now, with Dems in the "majority" (if you can call 50-50 a majority), he says the weapon he once used has to go.
Alec, you can't possibly be that stupid. The District of Columbia is already a 100% federal jurisdiction. You can't "federalize" what's already federal. Just stop the nonsense already.
Here's a "first" that Biden doesn't want credit for: the national debt just hit a record $34.9 TRILLION.
CBO says interest ALONE will be $892 billion this year (more than national defense), up 32% in just one year. Thanks, Joe.
You should let the CDC, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and ACOG know. They discuss 1st trimester disability screening, including for chromosomal disorders, on their websites. They apparently are under the delusion that, yes, disabilities are detectable before 13 weeks. Who knew?
Sen Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) is on the Sen floor. He has voted to filibuster legislation 95 times - the most recent just last week - voted against changing the debate rule in 2011, and signed the 4/7/17 letter opposing "any effort" to limit extended debate on legislation.
His statement says it all - "I have a whole school full of staff that make it a priority to adapt their language" to me. Everyone is changing their ways to accommodate MEEEEE!
A president can both "pack the Supreme Court" and arrest Donald Trump by "executive order"? It's conceivable that the president in some country somewhere on the planet could do such things.
Just not this one.
Sen. Schumer said that no witness and no document was allowed in the impeachment trial. Who were those people in the 192 video clips and what are those 28,000 pages of material entered into the Senate record?
Hon, let me introduce you to the founding fathers:
John Adams: A.B. from Harvard at 20 before studying law
Samuel Adams: attended the Latin School before graduating from Harvard and then earning a master's degree
John Hancock: attended the Latin School and received a bachelor's degree from Harvard at 17
John Jay: received a bachelor's degree from King's College (now Columbia) at 18 before earning a master's degree
Thomas Jefferson: began studying Latin, Greek, and French at age 9 and entered the College of Wm & Mary at 18 where he studied mathematics and philosophy
James Madison: entered the College of New Jersey (now Princeton) at 18, completed the three-year degree in two, and remained there to study Hebrew and political philosophy
Now who sounds like a 12-year-old?????
Can anyone tell me how most any homicide affects them in any way, shape, or form? If only people would stop caring about anyone but themselves.......!!!
Groups supporting KBJ's nomination claim that Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett appointments were "illegitimate." KBJ should be asked if she agrees. Her nom is following the very same process; if confirmed, will her appointment be illegitimate?
No, blatantly lying about this is "jacked up." It takes 60 votes to pass a bill in the Senate, the GOP has 53. DEMOCRATS are keeping the gov't shut down as a gun to Republican heads. That's not negotiation, that's extortion.
Bu then, you knew that.
You're joking, right? A person is neither fair nor unfair. The fairness is a level playing field so that ability determines winners and losers. The LPF includes that women play women and men play men. How do you not understand this?
Time between nomination and confirmation of some Supreme Court justices:
Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1993): 42 days
Sandra Day O'Connor (1981): 33 days
John Paul Stevens (1975): 19 days
Lewis Powell (1971): 45 days
Harry Blackmun (1970): 27 days
Warren Burger (1969): 17 days
The March for Life reminded me of my mom, who passed away 14 months ago today, sewing baby blankets for a pregnancy care center. Hundreds of them, one at a time, for 20+ years. Babies were a little warmer and felt a little safer. There's something each of us can do.
This a.m. House Min Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tweeted: "Those who fail to unequivocally denounce [political violence] are complicit in extremism."
He voted against H.Con.Res. 3, refusing to oppose attacks on pro-life centers and churches. Complicity in extremism?
While Pres Biden today claimed that "I have reduced the deficit," CBO has upped its projection for new debt over the next decade by $3 TRILLION. Increased =/= reduced, Joe!
Has anyone checked what Walz's awards are really for? Completing courses, 10 days of training outside the US, etc. Nothing wrong with those things, but is that what he's offering to show he's a military man?
Senate Dems who opposed changing the debate rule in 2013 and 2011 and voted to filibuster bills more than 100 times:
Cardin (MD)
Merkley (OR)
Murray (WA)
Sanders (VT)
Schumer (NY)
Wyden (OR)
She's beautiful and I can see her happiness! Helping her through, rather than caving to, her gender confusion was the key. Hope others follow your lead!
Where have you been all this time? A few:
American Health Care Act
Health Care Freedom Act
Better Care Reconciliation Act
The 2017 Graham-Cassidy bill
The 2019 Republican Study Committee plan
Libs are lying about the healthcare debate. That should tell you something, America.
Yesterday Sen Schumer said the GOP in 2016 "thwarted" Pres Obama's "constitutional prerogative...to appoint a Supreme Court Justice." The Constitution Schumer swore to defend says no such thing. Presidents have the power to nominate but need the Senate's consent to appoint.
Pres Trump appointed women to 7 of the 12 US Ct of App circuits. Sen Chuck Schumer voted to filibuster them, and then opposed confirmation. (Rushing, 4, Larsen, 6; Barrett, 7; Hunsaker & Bade, 9; Eid, 10, Lagoa/Branch/Grant, 11; Rao, DC; ). 80% got "Well Qualified" from the ABA.
How do you not know the difference between "founded on Judeo-Christian principles and ethics" and "founded on the Christian religion"???? Comments like yours are what happens when you are ignorant of our history.
Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said that Roe v. Wade is a precedent entitled to appropriate respect under the "principles of stare decisis." The Alito draft opinion explains and applies those principles, concluding that Roe and Casey fall short. Perfectly consistent.
When you hear Sen. Schumer (D-NY) express indignation at the Senate considering Judge Barrett's nomination, remember that he has already voted against 134 of Pres. Trump's judicial noms. Men, women, well-qualified, doesn't matter. He just can't help himself.
Senate Judiciary Committee Dems tell Chairman Graham there can't be one set of rules for GOP noms and another for Dem noms. Seriously? Dems started filibustering GOP noms in 2003 and then abolished nom filibusters in 2013 to prevent filibustering Dem noms. Hello?
Barack Obama now calls the filibuster a "Jim Crow relic" but he had no problem voting to filibuster dozens of bills when he was a Senator. Here's the story: dailysign.al/3sbxAEZ
Rosie O'Donnell doesn't like the US so she moved to Ireland (checked these myself):
87% white (vs. 58% US)
76% Christian (vs. 62% US)
Has an official language
Requires an ID to vote
Allows abortion only up to 12 weeks
Did she really think this through?
Biden at DNC conv: "There are fewer border crossings today than when Donald Trump left office."
US Customs & Border Protection:
526908 SW border encounters in Trump's fourth year; projected 2103347 in Biden's fourth year
Biden was off by only 400%
What sort of weird, parallel universe do you live in? Whatever you mean by an "intuitive" sense, a lot of normal people have a "literal" or an "actual" sense that groceries are more expensive.
White House tweet: "not a single, solitary rationale" for buying a semiautomatic weapon "except profit for the gun manufacturers."
Reality: for 62% who own a single gun, it's a handgun (85% are semiautomatic); 67% of gun owners say major reason is protection
RBG at her 1993 confirmation hearing: "A judge sworn to decide impartially can offer no forecasts, no hints, for that would...display disdain for the entire judicial process." RBG was confirmed 96-3.
Should ACB follow the Ginsburg standard at her hearing?
Pres Biden says inflation was rising when he took office. It was 2.4% in 2018, 1.8% in 2019, and 1.2% in 2020. In what universe does declining mean "rising"? Oh, and it was 4.7% in 2021 and 8% last year. THAT is raising.
Sen Durbin just said about one of Judge Barrett's opinions that "the result here is hard to swallow." For the Left, the judiciary exists to deliver the political goods, decisions are good or bad based on who wins or loses. That's the opposite of the rule of law.
Sen Schumer just said that a bill that receives no votes from one party is nothing but a "farce." Obamacare was enacted in 2009 without any votes from one party. Does the Schumer standard make it a farce?
Sens. Carper and Coons, DE Dems, are on the Senate floor complaining that the Senate has not confirmed various executive branch nominees. Each of them voted more than two dozen times to filibuster Pres Donald Trump's executive branch nominees in 2017.
Well, there was the pandemic when 22 million jobs vanished almost overnight.........I can see why you'd want to claim that is part of Trump's "jobs record" but c'mon.
What to do if the president appoints judges you don't like? For 230 years, the answer was provided by our system of gov't: elect a different president. Now, the Left's answer is to blow up our system of gov't by packing the courts.
How does someone else's rape affect those who haven't been raped? Or homicide affect the living? Or child abuse affect the childless? Is that what you're asking?
