The codex says the custodes were only known to be made up of Terran noble's sons, but every other mention of the Custodes has primarily said they were made of of the children of Terran nobles. Regardless, this specific change is such a non-issue. It's not on the same level as female space marines because the space marines creation process only works on men and is a one size fits all process.
