As Chicago braces for the Board of Education's vote on a $10.2B budget,
@ChicagosMayor is preparing again to stack the deck in his and the CTU's favor by appointing another fringe political activist to the BOE.
If you are not familiar with Ángel Vélez, we'll clue you in on his CV.
A flag bearer for radicalism, Vélez's doctoral dissertation praised the Puerto Rican terror group, the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN).
A Marxist-Leninist separatist group which sought to break from the U.S., the FALN carried out over 130 acts of terrorism on U.S. soil between 1974-83. The FALN is responsible for four deaths.
In 1977, the FALN spread its bloody campaign of terrorism to Chicago when it detonated a bomb in the Cook County building.
Vélez's PhD theses referred to the FALN as "freedom fighters" and labeled jailed FALN guerrillas as "political prisoners."
Naturally, Vélez's extremism appeals to Mayor Johnson, who is certain to downplay or ignore his radical views when he appoints him to the BOE.
Though the Chicago BOE is in need of a candidate with rich professional experience in education, Brandon Johnson is set to appoint a cheerleader for terrorists.
