GM After yesterdays announcement of CF voting in catalyst and using their full weight of 180 million ada to control the majority of catalyst fund 13, I did some thinking. We at Rare Network were approached by CF to join their proposal to use the Treasury to pay for Cardano summit events. We had almost no say in the proposal writing and were told how we would participate in their proposal and receive funds for the Rare Evo Hackathon 2025. I personally think the Summit is mismanaged every year with no oversight from the community. Delays in announcement of location leads to trouble for attendees. Asking for high cost sponsorship from the community when the entity running it is already well funded by the community. Last but most importantly, sky high costs for an event that should cost half as much as reported by CF. We at Rare Network are proposing a Cardano Events Council run within intersect lead by Rare Network, members of all 3 founding entities (IOG, Emurgo, CF), and regional and expert community members. We believe the summit should fall under this council control and should be run for the benefit of the community not to extract from it. CF has gone back on agreements with Rare Network and broken their word multiple times in the last year. With both Rare Evo and Catalyst over the past 2 rounds, and they have fully lost my trust personally. Rare Network LOST $50,000+ at Rare Evo 2024 because CF couldn't honor a contract we had already executed on, and spent funds bringing Enterprise leaders to the event we could not back out on as it would damage Rare Network's reputation in the industry. Simply put, we were shorted $35,000 on a contract by an entity that holds half a billion dollars stating they couldn't pay it. And now they want the Treasury to continue to pay for it while they manage it with no community oversight Do you think CF should control the summit with no community oversight, or should it be run by an events council?

So when you ask for free stuff from us, know there is a cost to it on our end. Know that we don't ask you to do your work for free. I didnt call my plumber friend last week and say "hey can you come fix this clogged drain for free?" Or "hey man, I know you work hard and those other customers pay you well, so can I get mine for free?" I pay full price because I know it's how they make a living, and I am happy to support my friends. Think about that before you ask for free tickets. Pause for a moment and really think "did I do anything this year to help them make a living" If the answer is no, you should probably buy your ticket. It's funny that people only show up when money is available. Where were some of these "passionate" people over the past year+? Where was their participation in governance and intersect? Or did they just pop up last second to put their own proposal in for money? It's easy to criticize from the sidelines as an armchair quarterback. It's also easier to argue to take away or cut than it is to spend more. It's hard to put in the time, the work, understand what is really going on, and make the hard calls on the front line. GM My desktop has been compromised. I was talking with a client about joining Rare Evo and the next evening I got a telegram message asking me to join their group meeting on WhatsApp to discuss Rare Evo. I clicked the link and quickly realized it wasn't a real WhatsApp as something went to download. I immediately deleted and shut it all down. Nothing was taken, I was careful of any key logger and never logged into anything. The computer is being completely wiped at microcenter. SOP changes on my end, I knew this day would happen. All crypto storage and transfers are now happening from a secure piece of hardware that is used for nothing else. My desktop will be used for day to day work, and meetings. No crypto on the public facing hardware. Stay safe out there 🤝🫡

GM As we get closer to the event and process ticketing, I am reminded of everyone that supported us throughout the years. I look back over the past 4 years of building Rare Network and think about about Rare Bloom and the first Rare Evo and see wild growth to today, but also a ton of struggle and hard work. Building from scratch it was very tough to gain any support from projects, chains, content creators, and most importantly the community. It's still tough and a grind. There is competition, camps of community members, cabals 🤣, and overall division between people and ideas. It's tough to bring everyone together in one room, literally. People don't understand that on top of all the travel and expenses, we have also had 800+ meetings already this year We try to provide as much value as possible to each of our partners. From projects, exhibitors, and sponsors. To content creators, media, and home grown individuals that support us. I see a lot of new faces supporting this year. Some are completely new friends we have made during our travels this year. Some have watched from distance for years, and are finally understanding the movement. I would like to address the "buildooors" that are questioning our business. I don't see anyone as transparent as we are. First read our proposals, we promised to bring 2 community members on our trip. As ADA rose we didn't squander funds for our company, we added to the production of the proposal. In Paris we had 6 content creators. In Dubai we had 7 total. Flights, hotel, food all covered. Tickets to events that cost $1000's of dollars per ticket. In both Paris and Dubai we had over 250+ people attend our Rare Socials. Introducing the greater Blockchain community to Cardano and catalyst. On top of all of that, we are producing the best media content this ecosystem has, showcasing our community all around the world. I am spending 3 weeks away from my 3 month old son while my wife returns to work. We have held full time jobs for 4 years while building Rare Network, only investing and never taking a paycheck until this year while running and building a profitable business. We fronted all the funds for the trip before being paid, going above and beyond and fronting 6 figures out of scope to produce Barcelona at the drop of a hat last second. To be completely transparent there was a point in Dubai during the floods where our team and group was stranded and we had to get a second round of hotel rooms for everyone. Our bank account was drained to zero, and we had to move funds to continue on our trip. If you take issue, I suggest you speak with any of the community members that went on the trip. 🤝🫡

GM Being a small start up with no VC funding is a blessing and a curse The curse - we are always worried about revenue and expenses. - We dream way bigger than our bank account can allow - We often lose time to execute because we have to always be closing deals to fund ideas The blessing - We are in full control of our destiny. No approvals needed - We are nimble. You can get every decision maker on one call and close deals fast. - We are able to go the extra mile for our clients as we are not restricted by corporate policy or pricing - we are able to dream big and shoot for the moon We have had several meetings over the last year for VC funding. The conversations are funny. We hear: "Wow, you guys are a Blockchain company and already have revenue and are profitable. We don't get that many Blockchain pitches that already have revenue" They are always looking for a token to dump, and that's not what we are selling. Yes future token, No it's not for you to dump on retail. There is reason we have taken so long to drop a token. VC always get caught up on the live event part and never see the tech stack vision. The conversations take too long. They are either Blockchain native investors and they want a token, or they are a traditional investors and think Blockchain is too risky Every year we spend a few meetings and months preparing pitch decks and documents, and each time we decide it's best to just spend our time building Rare Evo & building the business At the end of the day, our customers and the community are our VC. GM I have been joking with the team that it is nice to grow as a company, but I feel like I have become the grim reaper of meetings. Looking back at even last year it was just Wes, Evan, Myself handling every single meeting, contract, accounting, logistics, event management, sales, you name it. Now the team has grown and I have been able to focus on catching up on the boring stuff, and a bit of my time can be spent on some high level steering of the ship. I have noticed though, when I get called into meetings with vendors and partners, well, they aren't pretty meetings, and I have to hold a line for my team and defend our hard work. We work tirelessly to bring a high level experience for all our attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, media partners. Rare Evo is the Premier Blockchain Event PERIOD We wont let 3rd party vendors bring that experience down from our expectations. We appreciate all the feedback saying the show was flawless, as event planners we are always finding the little details to correct or able to roll with hurdles on the fly so most attending don't notice, but there is always something. Twitter is such a toxic place, so much hate gets attention. So much misinformation. We attack founders and try to bring competition down. Why can't we celebrate and support each other? Wild that people can look at the Rare Evo website and say it's a Cardano event and act like there is no one new to meet, or no value. I guess you have to tell yourself something when you are either on the small list of banned people (literally only 3 people 🤣), or just in general broke ( financially, morally, and socially) to attend 🤷‍♂️🤝🫡

I know this is a novel idea, but maybe volunteer positions are supposed to be filled by qualified people that have their living expenses covered in other ways, and they are able to VOLUNTEER their time and focus on the problem not their pay? Maybe if you are struggling you should focus on a job and not try to figure out why a volunteer position won't pay you. You might not be the volunteer they are looking for
