Platoons have always been one of the best tools to build real communities in Battlefield and to keep players engaged with the game and the franchise for years.
When I think back to the BF3 days, I honestly got hooked the moment I joined a platoon. Playing regularly with new friends, spending hours on TeamSpeak (RIP, you’re still missed), and getting into all the little dramas, rivalries, and hierarchies inside the platoon made every week feel different and exciting. It gave the game a sense of life and identity beyond just “jump in, shoot, log out.”
Today things feel very different. Most of the time you just play with one or two friends, and that’s about it. Without a proper platoon system or community servers (Portal might help, but it’s not quite the same), players feel scattered and disconnected. And that’s a shame, because Battlefield has always had the potential to be more than just another FPS, it’s been a social experience. And Battlelog made the experience even more cohesive.
If DICE really wants Battlefield 6 to last, I think they need to bring back platoons and proper community tools. Give players ways to organize, create rivalries, and build some sort of a narrative behind the game they are playing. That’s what makes people stick around long-term, and it’s exactly what made BF3/BF4 so special.

#Battlefield6 won't have spectator mode or platoon system at launch.
No official word (yet) whether it's coming at some point later.
