My grandfather worked on it while it was getting rehabilitated in the early 1980’s. He took us there as kids and we got to go in the torch. It was while the whole thing was in scaffolding. One of the points of the crown was digging into her arm. That’s what they were repairing (probably more, but that for sure).

Great news. Hormone driven cancer. Could buy maybe 5 quality years with that therapy coming in late and such a strong response curve. Inevitably progresses to mCRPC when it upregulates androgen receptors or mutates and bypasses. By then we should have some new options. Working on it.

More info
In 2019, Loren Schauers was ‘cut in half’ after a forklift fell from 50ft and landed on him. His injuries were horrific. He lost both legs and part of his right arm. Loren ultimately required a hemicorporectomy, a life-saving procedure that necessitated the amputation of the lower half of his body and one arm. Loren's path to recovery was long and arduous, involving numerous treatments. Among these was a faecal transplant, a procedure where donor feces is introduced into the body to promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.

Maybe “restoration” would have been less upsetting? It was in a state of disrepair. Given it’s a statue of a human, I thought a gesture of personification acceptable. Also, the second definition of rehabilitation applies to inanimate objects and organizations. All in all, I think this is a nitpick. I was recounting a fond memory on a passing twitter post. I didn’t know it’d get such a large response.
