From a White House official after Biden's speech: “The President’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change.”

Source close to the White House says what a lot of people are thinking, with Trump on his way to W. Va.: "What if he pardons Manafort live on television? This is crisis PR firms worst nightmare.."
So Trump's defense in the aftermath of Cohen's plea deal:
- Cohen is liar and weak
- He hired him because a "long time ago he did me a favor."
- Everyone knew about the Moscow project.

Beto supporters are still in shock — many are crying as they wait for him to address them. “I still trust his judgement,” one of them said while sobbing.
Listened to Trump's comments again. Here's two more defenses he mentioned:
- The Moscow Project didn't actually end up happening
- Read Fox News' coverage on the deal
They also did not know Trump would be attending until a few minutes before the ceremony. They did not mind that the ceremony was aired during the convention and were more focused on the fact that after years of waiting, they are finally citizens. wsj.com/articles/immigrants-…

Based on what Dem leaders and Pence are saying coming out of this meeting in the Situation Room, Trump passed around candy, asked Pelosi if she would give him the wall if he reopened the government, she said no, and then he walked out. Only new thing today I think is the candy.
