Some great data here showing how the use of off-the-shelf MERV13 filters can out perform commercial HEPA. Our PC-fan based designs have a smaller footprint and run virtually silent but the basic concepts are similar with the same benefits.

Hi Nathalie, of course you did test our 5X and MINI so many thanks for your work! The 6XL configuration was chosen based on extensive tests by Rob Wissmann who posted about them here: We went with the 6-fan in a perpendicular arrangement:
Tests for Arctic P14 and two Filtrete 2200 20"x20"x1" panels. This is in between the single panel and 4 panel tests I've previously done. Interesting result here is 9 fans isn't any better than 6 fans with a divider. @CRBoxKits @mrlighttouch

Thanks for the feedback, we add a little tape to the edges to help add some friction but there are slight inconsistencies, some are tighter than others, you may have gotten some tight ones! Maybe we should ditch the tape on the corners that need user install?

I've heard this from a number of people so it's definitely a great suggestion. I'm a big fan of the 3M Filtrete but I've heard a lot of good things about AAF Flanders too.

We're using the same filters, 3M MPR2200, when we make them for people, of course if they buy a kit they will could potentially put all kinds of filters in there! I measured the dB using an iPhone app in a voice-over booth, probably not the best way to do it.

Definitely a good point! The original was white and black but I got a lot of suggestions that was a bad idea. Maybe a neutral grey is best?
