In one text, this is why @conceive exists.
This exchange is 💔. No one should have to find out their IVF cycle was unsuccessful over text message.
We help fertility clinics w their clinical work, freeing up their time to treat more patients (and reducing burnout!). And we help alleviate the deep emotional toil of the fertility journey through our peer coach and community support.

And just like that, everything changed... After 3 years of trying, hoping, and loss, and 9 months of oohing, aahing, and ouching, my husband and I welcomed an angel into the world. Twitter, meet Elle Alma Sugarman.
Are you ok Hadi? I can’t imagine being so soulless that you’re criticizing someone who was held hostage for 100 days by known terrorists—for living her life. Have you ever been held hostage? Are you an expert on the aftermath of what it’s like to live? I can’t believe I have to say any of this but the world has gone🦇💩.
If this were about any other ethnicity or religion, this would be removed from the platform and wld receive so much hate. We’re living through scary times if you’re Jewish.
In Miami for the week. Husband has been pitching me on moving here for ~2 years. His pitch is simple, it’s 81 in December and there’s more hours of daylight.
Let’s see how this goes
this is 40.
Over the hill. And yet, the best age yet. Never felt so fulfilled personally + professionally. I have everything I ever wanted and so much more. There’s an ever present sense of perspective that keeps me grateful and drives me to achieve more.
2 years ago, just days before Mother’s Day, I found out at 9.5 weeks in utero that my son no longer had a heartbeat. For every mom out there, there are countless losses. Today we celebrate you. You are superheroes and you are not alone. 🤍
I couldn’t be more proud to share that today, @conceive is live in public beta. After far too many years of struggles with infertility, and hundreds of conversations with many of you — patients and providers — we’ve built the solution I wish I had.

Eleven Madison Park is reopening as a plant-based restaurant. No more meat or fish.
And they're continuing their giveback to the community. Each meal you purchase, serves 5 to those in need.

Outdoor seating in NYC has doubled the capacity of many restaurants and I’d argue 10xed the satisfaction. It’s such a magical second order effect of a terrible year and horrid disease.
For me, it’s personal. Conceive has been in closed beta for just a few weeks. We had a 25% response rate, a 76% conversion rate (it's paid), and our members have already noted massive transformations in their fertility journeys.
"community" is now the most misused word. just because people are fans of your brand, this doesn't make it a community. community is defined by engagement between members not just 1:many.
thanks for coming to my TED talk
Imagine choosing to photograph the mass rape and murder of hundreds of people. I’ve seen more outrage for an aggressive paparazzi than I have for this. Wild times we’re living in.
BREAKING: Nova survivors filed a lawsuit against the @AP for collaborating with Hamas.
Families of victims from the Nova music festival have filed a lawsuit in Florida against AP, after the news agency’s photographers participated in the October 7th massacre.
my closed beta launches today. building this co is my life's work, prompted by my 3-year winding and painful journey to get pregnant. we had >20% response rate, which is high for anything, let alone something so stigmatized. WE DESERVE BETTER. and I'm building it.
I’ve been sick off and on for *6 weeks*. I went home early from work on March 9th. Waves of severity of cough, chest pain, fever, chills, body aches, throatache, painful lymph nodes, headache, stomach issues. I was exposed to someone with COVID-19. Still can’t be tested.
I met an Israeli entrepreneur today who told me that citizens have access to digital medical records that have ALL YOUR medical history in ONE place with ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS. I then emailed one of my doctors for my records (for ME) and was asked to fill out and FAX a form. #2019
After 6 months of white space: reading, meditating, chatting, coffeeing, beaching, traveling, improv-ing, baking, interviewing, writing, & learning, I’m so excited to share that I joined @ww_us to head up partnerships and m&a, globally.
Fact: population replacement isn’t happening in the US.
Another fact: IVF, a commonly sought out treatment to help with conception, costs on average $23k for one round and $60k plus for success. And 75% of patients have ZERO coverage. That’s right, zero. It’s a luxury for most.
I took my second walk outside since recovering from COVID-19 today. I was amazed / delighted at how quickly I made it to Union Square. I took photos of how empty it was. And then I started to cry.

INCREDIBLE. NZ is 1st country to institute paid leave for a miscarriage. The fact that this isn't standard is enraging / yet not surprising. Women are often left to suffer in silence. My hope is more follow this lead & we destigmatize🤰 in the workplace nytimes.com/2021/03/25/world…
@Billbrowder the majority of these 96 comments are your book and I haven’t put it down since I started reading 2 days ago. What an incredible story with a perfect and compelling articulation.
Last night I ate take out Chinese food, two cookies and a glass of milk, was on my phone before bed for 30 mins, and had the most deep sleep I’ve ever had according to Oura so that’s what I’ll do for the rest of my life
1+ years back in NYC. I abandoned SF and a 75 mile drive each day and I now live .5 blocks from my office. On a train down south today and I have to say it is utterly delightful. <When you don't have to do it regularly.>
In my past 15 years in the working world, I’ve had the opportunity to work with tons of successful execs from fortune 50 cos and the like. Never ceases to amaze me how the most successful execs are the ones to reply *immediately* to your email.

GOT MY FIRST 💉 today 13 months after getting COVID (and enduring it for 8 wks with a 6 mo old baby). HAPPY DOESN’T DESCRIBE IT.
and yet I do wish my local Walgreens had balloons or confetti or something, you feel me
At Conceive, we help you understand if you can get pregnant—and then we do everything in our power to get you there. And we’ve been working on some BIG changes as part of that mission… 🧵
My last ~4 working years at a16z were incredible, and I'm grateful for the opportunity, and the humans I worked with. But it feels so damn good to be building again.
In 2016, I reached out to Tony to host a crew of us at a16z (+ CPG/ commerce cos/ partners) during summit. He planned a thoughtful evening out at Container Park. It was memorable because of him - his generosity of time and sharing of his vision. He redefined commerce and culture
My daughter turns 3 today. It took me 3 years to have her. I’m grateful for every single second. And there’s nothing that drives me more than helping others build their families.
I thought I’d heard it all. And that I was bulletproof. This year was meant to be the year that I shed mom guilt (or tried to). And then she said it. My 4.5 yo asked me about why her best friend gets special things that she doesn't get. When I asked her what she meant, she told me "her mommy picks her up from school". My heart broke in tiny pieces.
To think that for as long she can remember she’s believed that her friends were more loved or more special because their moms picked them up from school. And I didn't even know it was on her mind...
What I did in that moment and will do as often as possible going forward was to remind her that nothing she does takes things away from her goodness and the "special things" she gets. That mommy works to “help make babies”—and that that’s why I don’t get her from school as often.
But I’ll also make a point to carve out a couple of times a month where I do pick her up--knowing how important it is to her. And I'll never miss the important stuff. Like her class play this morning, which was the cutest ten mins of my life in which she played the lead as the "momma bird".
If you’ve ever felt this kind of heartbreak, you’re not alone. Impossible to do it all, but we do our best, and reassess when it's not working. 💔❤️🥰🤍
Tonight my daughter came home from camp, changed into a fancy dress and heels, insisted I do the same and that we go out for dinner. So I did and we did.
I strongly encourage all clubhouse "moderators" to read or listen to this @a16z discussion w @smc90 and Matt Abrahams, true experts in this space. Matt's techniques are so phenomenal I highly recommend meeting with him if you want to up your game. Of note: a16z.com/2020/11/05/moderati…
Grateful to have been a part of the @firstround Angel Track program this spring. I joined a brilliant, thoughtful, & diverse group of entrepreneurs and operators for a bootcamp in all things 😇. The program far exceeded my expectations. @firstround is top notch.
1/ Back in Feb. 2018 we launched an experiment called Angel Track, with the goal of lowering the barrier to entry in angel investing. Thanks to @JoshConstine for telling the story of what we’ve been building today in @TechCrunch. techcrunch.com/2019/06/29/in…
