Every time you let the standards slip you set new standards. We are at the end of a long downwards spiral of standards slipping.
Look, everyone can believe whatever they want. It’s not about beliefs, it’s about behavior, especially when it affects others. Law and order has to enforce behavior independent of causes. Somehow, some causes seem to be allowed behavior that would never be tolerated from other causes. This double standard has to stop. Imagine the cause here would be flatearthers against indigo for selling globes spamming pro 2D plane slogans.
Cities can only function when there is a basic assumption of safety and decency. We must be more assertive with enforcing tenable norms. @oliviachow, we need your leadership here and in all the other unprecedented stuff going in our cities.

Palestinian and Jewish identities can and must coexist in Canada. Jewish identity cannot thrive in Canada if it is perceived as a source of racism, specifically Anti-Palestinian Racism.
The Board has accepted submissions from fringe organizations whose views do not represent the majority of the Jewish community and has failed to apprise itself of the opinion of the grassroots Jewish community. B'nai Brith remains committed to ensuring that the needs and desires of Toronto's Jewish community are recognized and understood.

Tonight, TDSB Trustees met in order to review and vote on the Combating Hate & Racism Strategy for the 2024-25 academic year. As is due process, community members may speak to the materials coming before the Trustees (aka "delegations"). Tonight's delegates included a line up of well appointed, tokenized Jews who were mobilized in a concerted effort to speak over mainstream Jewish community perspectives and who used this opportunity to repeat disinformation and promote a definition of anti-Palestinian racism that is harmful, seeks to redefine a consensus definition of antisemitism, and borders on unconstitutional.
CIJA is working diligently to ensure that tokenism is not permitted and that any definitions adopted under Safe and Inclusive Schools will not further marginalize students, staff or community. The proposed definition seeks to define what is or is not antisemitism and is in contradiction with anti-oppressive practices.
The Jewish community has firmly stood behind the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism that went through years of process and rigorous development. We firmly reject this attempt to re-define our community’s experience.
Going forward, we urge Trustees to incorporate voices that represent majority Canadian Jewish perspectives to inform its decision-making on important motions relating to anti-hate and anti-racism.
