Two hundred and fifty years ago, our forefathers came together to codify our nation's independence and change the course of human history. Their ideas of freedom, liberty, and democracy — while radical then — became the guiding light for nations across the globe. Since then, America has changed dramatically. Wars have been fought, our borders have expanded, yet the values and ideals of this nation have remained the same: if you put your mind to something, you will have the freedom and opportunity to achieve it. We owe a debt to so many for our successes. The men and women who fought overseas to protect us, the workers who built this country from the ground up, and the leaders who guided us through our darkest moments all deserve our deepest gratitude. As we reflect on the values of the United States and the heroes who fought to uphold them, we must commit to continuing their legacy. I am so proud of how far this country has come, and I am excited and hopeful for what the next two hundred and fifty years brings. God Bless America, and Happy Fourth of July!

“While information shows that Canadian-produced fentanyl remains relatively low compared to Mexican sources, we do see the seizures of cocaine and fentanyl at the Northern border have increased, underscoring the Northern border's role as a key vector for high-value narcotics.” - @HSI_HQ's Michael Krol, Assistant Director for Domestic Operations, outlines the work of @ICEgov to combat criminal enterprises across the U.S.-Canada border.

During @RepPfluger’s questioning, @USGAO’s Heather MacLeod highlighted @HouseGOP’s historic investments in border security: “The reconciliation funding from the One Big Beautiful Bill and the Secure America Act provided a great opportunity for these DHS components to increase their staffing levels, upgrade facilities, and increase their surveillance technology.”

PRC-based companies are using illicit techniques to extract capabilities from leading American frontier AI models and repackage them into lower-cost models without the same safeguards. These models are then marketed directly back to American companies. In April, @HomelandGOP & @ChinaSelect launched a joint investigation into the national security risks posed by the growing adoption of PRC-developed AI models, including systems developed by DeepSeek & Alibaba: bit.ly/4xVCZT9

WATCH: Subcommittee Chairman @RepPfluger opens today’s hearing on Northern border security: “Today, we are seeing a troubling shift: Individuals of concern, including those appearing on the Terrorist Watchlist, are increasingly attempting to reach the United States through Canada. This trend requires us to examine not only illegal crossings, but the broader counterterrorism landscape.”

With the historic progress of the Trump administration in securing our Southwest border, criminal networks and bad actors are looking to find any vulnerability in our Northern border. But thanks to @HouseGOP's investments in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the U.S. Border Patrol is undergoing a historic hiring surge to meet the moment. “Last year alone we had 86,000 U.S. citizens apply to be a Border Patrol agent...2,000 Border Patrol agents at the Border Patrol Academy right now––and a lot of those will be going to the Northern border.”
