July is UV Safety Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of effective sunscreen.
My bill, the SAFE Sunscreen Standards Act, which was signed into law, is helping expand access to new FDA-approved sunscreen ingredients, like bemotrizinol, giving Americans access to higher-quality sunscreens that provide better UV protection and help prevent harmful sun exposure this summer.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our forefathers came together to codify our nation's independence and change the course of human history. Their ideas of freedom, liberty, and democracy — while radical then — became the guiding light for nations across the globe.
Since then, America has changed dramatically. Wars have been fought, our borders have expanded, yet the values and ideals of this nation have remained the same: if you put your mind to something, you will have the freedom and opportunity to achieve it.
We owe a debt to so many for our successes. The men and women who fought overseas to protect us, the workers who built this country from the ground up, and the leaders who guided us through our darkest moments all deserve our deepest gratitude.
As we reflect on the values of the United States and the heroes who fought to uphold them, we must commit to continuing their legacy. I am so proud of how far this country has come, and I am excited and hopeful for what the next two hundred and fifty years brings.

As we celebrate America’s 250-year story, we look to Ashtabula County where Alexander Harper, a Colonel who served in the Revolutionary War, founded what is modern day Harpersfield Township. After fighting for independence, Col. Harper was one of the earliest known settlers of Northeast Ohio, leaving a legacy that helped shape the Western Reserve.

Today, our history highlight takes us to the Historic Ashtabula Harbor. Once the Ashtabula railroad was completed in 1873, Ashtabula became a direct route to ship iron ore to the biggest steel mills. Our harbor even surpassed Cleveland as one of the busiest ore receiving ports on the Great Lakes.

The innovation and hard work that made Ashtabula Harbor a cornerstone of American manufacturing continue to inspire Ohioans today. As the co-chair of the House Manufacturing caucus, I understand the vital role that industry plays in Northeast Ohio’s economy. That’s why I continue to support legislation that cuts red tape, spurs economic growth, and lets our local manufacturers flourish without government interference.

Yesterday, I chaired the @HouseAppropsGOP Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee hearing on the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) FY2027 budget request.
OMB was created by Congress and plays a unique role in carrying out the President's policies. That's why yesterday’s hearing was an important opportunity to review the agency's funding request and discuss how Congress and the Administration can better work together to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent as Congress intended.
I appreciate Director Russ Vought for appearing before the Subcommittee and look forward to continuing to work together to ensure OMB has the resources it needs to carry out its mission responsibly.

As America approaches its 250th birthday, we remember that our freedom was earned through sacrifice and courage. One of the most important victories of the War of 1812 took place on Lake Erie, where an outgunned US Navy secured a decisive victory, placing the lake and the surrounding territory under US control. This battle marked a turning point in the war, helping to secure our freedoms for generations.

Today, Lake Erie’s invaders look a little different. Instead of ships on the horizon, it’s ecological threats we have to keep at bay. That’s why protecting the Great Lakes remains one of my top priorities. During this session of congress, I introduced two bills that protect and preserve the Great Lake ecosystem: Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Reauthorization Act and the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health (BEACH) Act.
