I'm a 42 year old gaming woman. And you are utterly full of shit. You've bought into the absolutely ridiculous notion that gamers are all toxic men trying to keep women out due to misogyny. You've been fed misandrist propaganda by women who don't even actually enjoy gaming - they just use it as a power control mechanism. Samus wouldn't be considered woke any more than the woman in Stellar Blade is considered woke. Or Bayonetta. Or Sonia, Chun-Li, Laura Croft - or any number of other women in games I'm sure others could help me name. The difference is that they have more to them than being beautiful and badass. They have flaws, they have femininity. They have a personality beyond "I don't need no man". Woke video game women are an insult to women as a whole. They basically turn us into angry men with a grudge against other men. It's pathetic and completely misses the power and beauty of what being a woman is - it ignores what makes us amazing in favor of what some women envy in men. Worse, they make me not want to play female characters because despite sharing a sex, I in no way identify with the attitudes and goals these women have - because being able to identify with a character goes beyond race, sex, and orientation. Especially if you have thoughts deeper than a mud puddle on cement.
If samus was revealed a women today they woulda called it forced diversity

I'm going to be abundantly clear. I'm a 43-year-old woman. I've been gaming since I was capable enough to hold a controller. The fact is, the reason you're getting pushback is that you chose to post and whine about people being mean in a competitive environment. You chose to bring the attention to yourself - to play victim because it's the best currency you know. In this case "the wrong side of Twitter" is people who expect you to be responsible for yourself and manage your own online experiences. I'm only bothering to say anything because I am sick and fucking tired of having to hear how "women ruin gaming" and what they really mean is that people like you cry about things that are normal parts of the culture and making it so games start taking away the ability to say things as mild as the word "noob". People like you are why others can't enjoy casual crude fun with people who are like-minded - because you come in, unable to handle it, and demand the space changes so you "feel safe" - in a completely voluntary online space you don't actually HAVE to be in. We are ALL sick and tired of the emotional manipulation. So seriously, fuck you. Fuck you for trying to weaponize helplessness and victimization. For trying to emotionally manipulate people because you can't handle yourself. For trying to pull in other identities and races to use as a shield against the fact that you are just weak. Don't like it? No one is forcing you to be here.
I have been thinking for a few days whether or not to post this, because it feels a little pointless. Unfortunately, that tweet ended up on the wrong side of twitter (clearly). I understand what I am about to say will fall on deaf ears and most likely will not be seen by all 11 million people who saw my previous post. But I think I owe it to myself to defend myself. I have played thousands of matches of CS. Thousands. Over 1000 on Faceit alone. The clip I posted was no where near the worst things I have heard in lobbies. The clip didn't even showcase the worst things they said in that game. I have heard worse directed at women, at people of color, at my streamer friends, I have heard it ALL. The point of the clip was not to call out this specific instance as being the worst thing ever said to me on the internet, but rather how quickly an average lobby goes 0-100 on faceit if I so much as make one single mistake or even sometimes after the first word out of my mouth in warmup. If you can't understand that, the tweet wasn't meant for you. After this game, I didn't end stream. I didn't send anyone to harass these people or report them. I kept it moving, tried to bring the vibes back, and played with some friends. For those of you saying women are too weak and shouldn't be allowed to game, you are fucking braindead. You saw a 30 second clip and ran with 10000 assumptions about how you think I handled the situation. Clearly if I had known 11 million people were going to see that tweet I would have provided better context. But I didn't and it's too late. People didn't even bother to open the original thread where the other worse clip was, so I don't know what you guys are expecting me to do. To any content creators/women in the cs space, learn from my mistake so you don't have to experience thousands of people threatening to rape and kill you over a 30 second counter strike clip. A special fuck you to @asmongold for using his influence to send hate to smaller creators in the space. I will be laughing when karma catches up to you one day. Petty side note: to all you fuck heads who keep flaming me for being bad and that I deserve it, the dudes were dead with 1 kill on the board while I had 5, and literally comm'd incorrectly which lead to my death. So before all you dumbasses who have never loaded up CS but think you know everything because you played call of duty when you were 12 years old, shut the fuck up. My duo (also female) top fragged, and this bot fucker dropped like 10 kills total. go fuck yourselves

Alright, I've had 2 cups of coffee, so I feel up to this now. Normally, I'd go off on the whole women in gaming, real women gamers need to strike back, etc. But I would like to focus on something else. Something that, unfortunately, is a much wider problem than just one lame chick playing victim for attention. What we are seeing here is a case of learned helplessness, turned then into weaponized weakness. This is a predominantly female behavior - but no matter who is displaying it, its manipulative and wrong. This game provides tools she could easily employ to avoid these situations, but she chooses to continue her exposure to this behavior. And then it becomes everyone else's fault when it happens to her. We see this same weaponized helplessness in the current push for "online safety" laws. Parents are provided with many, many, many tools to avoid their children being exposed to things, but in a continuation of this same "its everyone else's responsibility to protect me" mindset, the politicians push for rules that will do nothing but make Normal adults easier to track. This behavior bothers me not just because of what it does to gaming directly, but how it insidiously snakes its way through everything. You are your own responsibility. Your kids are your responsibility. Yes, everyone else's behavior is their responsibility as well, but if you know a situation is bad and you make no effort to to use the tools provided to you, at some point you are complicit in your own misery.
I just wanna show you guys how draining it is to play faceit as a woman these days. Yes i know these guys will likely get banned, yes i have reported them, no you don't have to tag darwin. But it's getting draining. This is over 50% of my games these days. Banning these types of people only goes so far. The reason I am tweeting this is because I just wanna ask the decent guys out there. Please, if you see a girl getting harassed like this in your faceit lobbies, PLEASE say something. It won't always stop them but it made me feel a little better knowing that at least one of the guys on the team also realized how fucked this type of behavior is.

Ma'am, this isn't even GamerGate Jr. You and this website don't even understand what GamerGate was. I'm a 43 year old woman. I have beem gaming my entire life. My 64 year old mother was a gamer before me. The ONLY reason you are getting "attacked" is because you chose to get involved in stuff that is, frankly, none of your business. You have chosen to leverage government and corporations to exert control over people who want nothing to do with you, and literally wouldn't care you existed until you chose to interfere with their chosen hobbies. You'll cry and say its "for the children" or "for women's rights" - but I'm telling you right now you are interfering with MY rights. I may not play the games you've had taken down, but I'm well aware it's only a matter of time before you are interfering with games I play. Games that have literally gotten me through some of the most depressing points of my life, that have helped me survive. And because YOU don't like it, you want to remove that - THAT is why you are "under attack". It has nothing to do with your sex, and everything to do with the fact you came after us first. DO NOT encourage the government to try to "solve" a problem we can solve ourselves. This Roblox situation is a quick downward slope to Digital ID and online verification for games. If Roblox refuses to help create a safer environment for children - then don't play it. Don't let your kids play it. Your kids will be upset, but what you do then is explain WHY you aren't letting them play it. Kids aren't as stupid as people pretend - obviously you don't have to be explicit about the details, but letting your kids know that they can't play until Roblox is willing to help you protect them from harm isn't going to destroy them. But DO NOT let the government use this as a stepping stone in the "for the children" defense of their control grab.

The SCREEN act is a perfect example of everything wrong in Congress. SCREEN - or Sheilding Children's Retinas from Egregious Exposure Act (these people got paid with money stolen from us to come up with this ridiculous acronym) is (supposedly) to prevent kids from accessing "harmful to minors" content. This includes visual depictions (e.g., images, videos) that depict explicit sexual content, lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors. Now, I'd love to know who gets to decide what "lacks value". Does this mean kids won't be allowed to watch silly shows like ThunderCats? Or maybe they're going ti get rid of The Power Rangers... I don't know about you, but I do not trust the government to decide what has "value" in terms of much of anything - and I certainly don't believe adults should be forced to jump through hoops because other adults out there refuse to actually parent their children. I also am not interested in letting the government leverage lazy parents as an excuse to create more tracking systems for adults. This bill was introduced by @BasedMikeLee - someone I generally consider in favor of Freedom, but obviously not so in this case. Please be sure to contact your congressional representatives and let then know we are NOT interested in giving them more control. Not of our children, and not of us.
Children should NEVER have access to adult content online.  This is something everyone should agree on, yet many sites refuse to enforce strong age verification.  It’s time to pass the SCREEN Act and protect our most innocent.
Community note
This post implies that is not currently possible to restrict children access to the Internet. Parental controls are easy and available in almost any digital environment. It's the duty of parents to apply them. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parental_

EVERY gamer has a fundamental right to reject a game based on ANY criteria they like - and I am SO fucking tired of troglodytes crawling out of the woodwork with "yOuR mIsSiNg oUt cUz wOmAn" Exactly why are you so invested in other people choosing to play female protagonists or not? How does your whining like this change anything? It just makes you feel good. You think your willingness to play a female protagonist while others may not want to makes you better than them because you're not missing out. Newflash - they're not missing out. No one is missing out when they're not playing games they don't want to play. This is like saying I'm missing out on whatever new Battlefield game because I don't like to play FPS. I am SO tired of people using women as a reason to attack others - just stop it. You're not helping.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but gaming is a luxury item that occupies leisure time. People can, and will, use any criteria they wish to weed out things they do not wish to spend their time and money on. If you are judging people based on how they choose to spend their spare time and money, then perhaps you need a new hobby so you can extract your nose from other people's business. Or a therapist.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but women who you don’t personally find attractive exist in the real world, and they can exist in video games as well. If you can’t play a video game without every woman in it looking like a gooner fantasy you are brain rotted and need help

I'm going to be upfront. As a gamer, I don't care "how the gaming industry works". It's not my job to know how the industry works. My part in this industry is to buy games I want to buy, and play them. How y'all handle anything else? Truly don't care. Right now the industry is in a place where the people who are supposed to buy and play what they want are being blamed when things they don't want fail. And some people are dumb enough to make their living off trying to make predictions about how things will go. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong - sometimes who's right or wrong is kind of in a weird place. I'm tired of being told by people "in the industry" that the game they're coming out with is so great - but then I get it, and it's not. Or I (or anyone) says that we're not really interested, and suddenly it makes us bad people for not wanting to play what the industry has decided I'm supposed to want. The gaming industry has gotten itself backwards to some degree - there are too many developers and journalists who think they get to tell us what we want. And that's why there have been so many super massive AAA flops. How does that relate to anything else here? I'm not sure, I started rambling.
We’ve said for years that these dudes have no understanding of how the gaming industry works. I hope after last night’s fact check session that people see just how bad this brain rot not only gets processed but how dangerous it actually is to not live in reality.

If you don't compensate the person creating the food in some way, it's slavery. It doesn't matter if you're some flavor of collectivist or a capitalist - life is ALWAYS work or starve. For the "bUt tHe pS2" crowd - the PS2 could have had better render distance, but the developers were informed the fog from the PS1 was an important part of the atmosphere and immediately went back to it. The original feel was a complete accident, but kept because the original team that worked on the original game, who used a trick to get around a limitation, put the same thing back. What we have now are people who have never had to deal with such limitations, and can't comprehend not using the "full power" of the technology they have.

I have to wonder how many people read this and then just blindly block people. At least one is a LITERAL game dev that only got "political" because someone asked him to add a way for gay people to have kids in his game and he politely declined because he was focused on what he considered to be more important features for the larger populace. To my knowledge, @ArturSmiarowski doesn't do podcasts - he mostly posts advice about being an indie game dev, providing a look behind the curtain, especially where it concerns Reddit boards, and first hand experience in being "canceled" because he didn't toe someone else's agenda. I like more than half of these people, and even consider a number to be friends - but I can also understand why some people might block them (I don't agree, but I can understand) But to put Artur of all people on this list? Kinda feels like he was just looking for a person to fill up a space.

Are we finally ready for this conversation? 1987. Almost forty years. Long time. Time to remake The Princess Bride.

A targeted harassment campaign against @Nerdrotics, @KinelRyan, and @GeeksGamersCom is on going, and currently ramping up. I am purposely choosing not to share their libelous lies and slander, as neither their falsehoods nor the people spreading them deserve the attention. The people of FNT, Geeks and Gamers, and their various associates are truly passionate people. Because of this passion, they are very harsh regarding the corporations that are stewards of the things they love. Because of that same passion they also have very harsh words for the people those corporations employ, when those employees choose to attack fellow fans with more libel and slander - because they can't stand to take responsibility for their own failures. The fact that the perpetrators of this campaign show a complete inability to separate the critique of a job or a role from hatred of a person shows the level of intelligence they're working with or, more insidiously, is a form of weaponized incompetence. An incompetence created and worn to manipulate others in an attempt to obscure the truth - that their arguments have all the depth of an ice cube tray.

He's right. Studies have been done. Women might SAY that they don't care - but they will still choose a more attractive character if provided the option.
Asmongold thinks no one wants “ugly female protagonists”, even women Says you can test it out yourself using this method “Next time you see one of the girls saying how good this character looks..give them a compliment and tell them they look like this”

Matt, we're not upset that you "talked about an issue in the news." We're upset you belittle and demean us, THEN discuss the issue with absolutely no self-awareness. You spoke as if there haven't been people speaking on it before. You completely dismiss an important part of culture, and seem to think the only answer is to remove the part you disagree with - and when you're talking to a subset that had ALWAYS had to deal with people telling us that we should be removed (by bullies in school in the 90's and 00's, by the woke and agenda driven in the 10's, and now by you AND the woke and agenda driven), you shouldn't be particularly surprised when you experience backlash FROM that subset. Especially when we're already exhausted as being used as a whipping boy from the current culture war we are fighting. You made yourself a target, and instead of stopping and looking at the actual reason people are upset at you, you pull the "I'm a victim" card. You are literally just being part of the crowd we already have to fight against. My only hope at this stage is that your inane prattle and pretend victimhood wake a few more people up.
I have to say, I've been the target of some extremely unreasonable backlashes in the past. But this one is probably the most ridiculous yet. This time people are mad that I talked about an issue in the news. Apparently I have no right to discuss it because I'm not in the club. Truly the dumbest outrage I've ever encountered in my life. And man is that really saying something.

A man preferring to play male characters is not misogynist any more than a woman preferring to play female characters is misandrist. Gamers are allowed to have preferences and even express those preferences. Hell, HUMANS IN GENERAL are allowed to have preferences in regards to absolutely everything under the sun - preferring something does not mean you hate the things you don't prefer. The fact that people like you choose to turn it into some kind of war is a far bigger problem than the fact some men prefer not to play women. Fuck off.

If you have sex, you have to accept the fact that there is a chance you can get pregnant. The fact that there are human beings out here who want to decouple "sex" from "pregnancy" just utterly disgusts me. Forget the religious shit - having full, penetrative intercourse with a man is LITERALLY inviting a person INTO your body. It is the absolute closest you can ever get to another person, physically. Before you do that, you absolutely should think about if they are the type of person you want leaving fluids inside you. Forget if those fluids create a baby - do you want that absolute stranger's bodily fluids INSIDE your body? Having sex is fun, pleasurable, and can be beautiful - it's also dirty, messy, and comes with a heavy responsibility (not even including pregnancy). I am TIRED of that being ignored. I'm tired of seeing women encouraged to neglect themselves and invite just any random protrusion into themselves - they should be holding themselves far more precious, and that is WITHOUT religious connotation. If you're not important to yourself, you can't expect others to treat you as if you're important to them. Because at the end of the day, all you have is you. You are the one who's always going to be there, and everyone else will leave. If you don't want to risk being pregnant with someone's child, don't invite them into your body. It is that easy. If they leave because you wouldn't, then they weren't worth it in the first place.

It's funny when kids pop up and say "Haha they thought this was good CGI?" No, no we did not - we thought it was hilariously bad. It's the perfect example of a great movie with bad CGI - the movie was so well written that we all just laughed at the bad parts, and enjoyed the rest.
We really don't know how bad this CGI was😂

The audience wasn't there for the game. No matter who or what you blame, it's true. If you make games people don't want to play - no matter what the intent is behind them - people won't play them. No game is entitled to an audience.

This is so dumb. If you don't want a baby. Don't have sex - that's a statement that goes for men and women. Men - if you are against abortion, don't be complicit in creating unplanned babies. Women - if you don't want a baby, don't engage in activities that may impregnate you. This is a two party action. If one chooses not to participate, it doesn't happen. And don't give me this "women are the gatekeepers of sex" bullshit. If you can't say no to sex with someone, then you are just a weak man. Own up to it.

When a group engages in a behavior for a long period of time, they don't get to whine when other people begin to use that behavior against them. If you don't want someone to do something to you, don't do it to them. It's a really basic concept. For too long people who were for canceling others relied on the morality of those who were against it to protect them. They have eaten away the goodwill and instead pushed people to where they recognize they will have to break their own moral code to survive. The real question is how much longer is morality going to last in regards to other behaviors?

The amount of people I'm seeing so absolutely upset over a fictional woman in a sexy outfit is, for lack of a better word, retarded. If a real-life Drag Queen wore this outfit on the street corner, many of these same people would just shout, "Slay Queen!" and talk about how people should be allowed to express their real selves. But if a video game developer puts what's recognized as a strong female character in anything more revealing than a sun's outfit, they'll cry like a child. God forbid that the game devs get to express what they think is beautiful, or - even worse - that male gamers DARE enjoy looking at a woman who is supposed to embody feminine power. And then they're going to pretend we women don't also enjoy looking at them - or that we don't enjoy seeing women depicted as BOTH feminine and powerful at the same time. I'm sick of people who want to destroy women - because that's all this really is. It's misogyny hiding behind a mask of feminism. The only women who want other women presented as dumpy, ugly, man-adjacent one-dimensional cutouts are broken, selfish, narcissistic witches looking to center more attention on themselves.

Maybe. But that's more about how they attempt to market with rage than it is about how people would perceive the game just playing it. In the end, with most gamers, actual game play, well written stories, and good characters tend to win out - even past the rage baiting marketing
