They let me in the building to watch basketball & write about the Clippers (+ other stuff). It's pretty cool. | Business Inquiries: justinrussowrites@gmail.com
Mentioned it a while ago, but I’ve moved over to Substack. You can catch all my comings and goings over there. Give it a follow (or read, or whatever) if you’re at all interested in Clippers content and other random musings. Greatly appreciate all of you.

Kai Jones, who had a really good night with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks, does postgame with David Pingalore, and even breaks out into a little song.
A win is a win, but if I’m Denver, I treat this like a loss. Heat really figured something out putting Highsmith on Jokic. That’s one of those somewhat small adjustments that can win a series.
“It’s unfair. It’s not right,” Steve Ballmer says about the regular t-shirt toss you see at NBA games. So what did the Clippers do? They put t-shirt cannons on the Halo Board that can apparently hit every seat in the arena so no one is left out. No, I’m not kidding!
The fact it took like 11 games for anyone to even notice that the Dallas Mavericks weren't playing the national anthem at games should make everyone realize it doesn't need to be played at sporting events and you won't miss it if it's gone.
Bucks haven't won a title since 1971.
Hawks haven't won a title since 1958.
Clippers and Suns have never won a title.
This is actually awesome. Enjoy this, everyone.
Woj going on ESPN and saying there's a rift between Gobert and Mitchell and how the Utah locker room is basically pissed at Gobert is a huge thing. They should be pissed at him. It's nice that he was apologetic but apologizing for being an idiot still means you were an idiot.
There was a lot of talk this offseason about how the Clippers would replace the scoring that Paul George supplied last season (22.6). Answer was to do it in the aggregate. The 19.2 uptick from Harden/Powell/Zubac combined with the 3.1 from Coffey basically gets you there (22.3).
I asked James Harden postgame tonight about his relationship with Stephen Curry and going head-to-head for 15 years.
"I really feel a type of way about him, you know, just because they got the best of us. ... Hopefully true basketball fans could understand it and appreciate it."
LA Clippers announcer Brian Sieman on the Luka Doncic trade: "In a related story, because the Mavericks are now focused only on defense, they gave up 50 points in the first quarter to the Cleveland Cavaliers."
Memphis Grizzlies interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo compares Draymond Green to legendary Italian central defender Paolo Maldini: “I know we’re on the wrong continent but there used to be a great central defender for the Italian national team in soccer called Paolo Maldini.”
Asked Clippers guard Bogdan Bogdanovic last night about the human element of being traded and saying goodbye to Trae Young’s son.
Bogi: “We’re all humans. It’s tough. … I have to go to his house, see his kids again, tell him we’re going to see each other again. That’s life.”
My biggest takeaway from this video is why does the Suns arena have opposing players walk through a common fan area to get back to the court? That seems ... peculiar.
For the Clippers …
Kawhi Leonard: 6’7” to 6’6”
Kobe Sanders: 6’6” to 6’8”
Derrick Jones Jr.: 6’5” to 6’6”
Jason Preston: 6’4” to 6’3”
Jordan Miller: 6’7” to 6’5”
Patrick Baldwin Jr.: 6’9” to 7’0”
Yanic Konan Niederhauser: 6’10” to 6’11”
Nicolas Batum: 6’8” to 6’7”
At shootaround today, LA Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said that Mason Plumlee approached him recently to tell Lue that he doesn’t want to “mess up” the “good thing” the Clippers have going as the team has won 17 out of their last 22 games, and will gladly sit behind Daniel Theis.
The USA Select Team has defeated Team USA in the first two open scrimmages we’ve been able to see today. The second one saw Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren of the Detroit Pistons look quite formidable.
Cannot WAIT for a team to play a game in New Orleans and then have to fly and play the second night of a back-to-back in like Phoenix or Los Angeles or the Bay Area. Tremendous stuff.
Clippers assistant coach Jay Larranaga created what he calls the EZ Rim, which helps with shot arc and form for players. Larranaga went to a welder to have it made and unveiled it this year after working on it for a while.

When I saw Nicolas Batum in Los Angeles last weekend, I told Batum that he didn’t tell me one lie about Victor Wembanyama when I sat down with Batum for a story two years ago. Batum’s response last weekend? “I tried to warn everyone of what was coming.”
This pitch to end the game was WAY off the plate and Randal Grichuk of the Toronto Blue Jays let the home plate umpire know it.
Randal Grichuk: “Are you kidding me?! That was six inches off the plate! Oh my god! You’re terrible! God damn!”
