Very proud of this visual guide I created to explain different scenarios & associated problems based on the DiD literature, so thought I’d share here in case it’s helpful!
I'm teaching @agoodmanbacon's seminar DD paper in my grad class today. At this point this paper feels like an old friend I have a toxic relationship with. I overall like spending time with them but every once a while they hurt me.

Why is the policy solution to make people feel guilty for not getting married instead of insisting we create jobs & childcare that allow a single person to support their family on their own? Bc economists love to blame individuals for systemic problems.

In many of my interviews I've been asked "how does your *family* feel about you moving?" In my case I feel some satisfaction saying "well my family is me and my two dogs so they will be fine" But y'all this is how not-so-subtle discrimination happens
It’s also the case that typically to get a raise, one needs an “outside offer,” which often requires being willing and able to move one’s family somewhere else in the country. Hypothesis: this contributes to women getting paid relatively less than men at the same university.

This is a great paper: 1) provides policy-relevant evidence that restrictions on Food Stamp eligibility among drug felons increased later crime, and 2) uses a simple, transparent identification strategy. I assigned it as reading in my public grad class last semester!
