🚨 11 Western state governors signed a joint statement of agreement, sharing their bipartisan support for an expanded regional transmission system and committing to establish a western transmission task force to accelerate transmission permitting. CEBA applauds the governors for recognizing the urgent need for coordinated interregional transmission planning and for elevating the efforts of WestTEC to advance this work. "We welcome this monumental announcement that shows bipartisan support for increased coordination on transmission planning and permitting in the West. These reforms are critical to unlocking the untapped potential in the western states as well as building the next wave of infrastructure across the country as we look to serve growing loads. This regional effort complements CEBA’s work at the federal level to improve energy permitting and interregional transmission planning.” -CEBA SVP for Policy @NidhiJThakar

Read @powellrich's new op-ed in @dcexaminer : “Too often, our energy challenge isn't about what we can build — it's about the policies and regulations that prevent us from building it.” Restricting generation resources could cost the U.S. $121 BILLION in additional energy costs beginning in 2027 through 2033. It's time to enact technology-neutral permitting reforms that unleash all American energy resources. washingtonexaminer.com/op-ed…

CEBA’s statement on today’s @FERC action: “CEBA supports FERC’s action to address large load interconnection challenges in the organized markets. The tailored reforms will bring greater clarity, transparency, and fairness to transmission and interconnection service rules that will benefit generators and energy buyers alike. The Commission’s focus on preventing cost shifting, improving transmission study processes, and enabling flexible integration of large and co-located loads is a timely step to support growing demand while maintaining access to low-cost, reliable power for all Americans. The United States’ economic and technological competitiveness demands nothing less.”

CEBA took the stand in North Carolina to discuss Duke Energy’s Carbon Plan and Integrated Resource Plan, proposing a program that allows large customers to bring impactful, customer‑funded clean energy and demand-side management resources to the system. Large energy customers can bring solutions to the grid, helping meet load growth and ensuring low-cost, reliable power⚡️

Recapping yesterday's critically important report from CEBA and the potential impact that constraining solar and wind could have on Texas energy costs beginning in 2027 through 2033: ⚡️ Restrictions could force Texans in ERCOT to pay up to 22% more for electricity. ⚡️️ Economywide, residential and commercial/industrial customers in ERCOT could pay $3 billion more per year for power. ⚡️️ ERCOT could see the greatest percentage increase among the modeled regions. All told, constraints on new solar and wind could cost American households more than $81 billion in electricity and natural gas costs over the seven-year period. Texas is the nation's renewable energy leader — we're a shining example of the affordability and reliability benefits a diverse energy portfolio offers. The country can learn from our example: "allowing deployment of low-cost solar and wind resources helps mitigate the pressure from electricity price increases arising from load growth." 🚨 Major study published today by @CEBAPower 🚨 Constraining new solar and wind resources could cost the U.S. more than $120 billion over a seven-year period. And @ERCOT_ISO could bear the brunt of the impact: restrictions on new solar and wind could increase Texas households' electricity prices by more than 22% — the greatest regional increase, according to the analysis. Check it out:

🎉 House lawmakers just passed the bipartisan Geothermal Energy Advancement Act! "Corporate clean energy buyers are increasingly looking to procure geothermal resources to supply their operations. Enacting policies that can help transform this regional power source into a national energy security asset is paramount to future economic growth." -CEBA CEO @powellrich This package includes geothermal-specific permitting and lease sale reforms—which are complementary to the broader permitting and transmission reforms currently under consideration by Congress. 📰 Big news out of Texas today! ERCOT just approved a transformative new initiative: a voluntary, market-based Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) system designed to accelerate advanced energy development & economic growth across the state. EACs are tracking instruments that provide customers with detailed information about where and when their electricity was generated & the resources used to produce it. Learn more ⤵️
⚡️🎉 ERCOT has approved EACs! ‼️ The @ERCOT_ISO Board of Directors just voted unanimously to create a voluntary system of Energy Attribute Certificates, or EACs. An EAC is a tracking instrument that allows consumers to know, with granular detail, where their electricity is coming from, who produced it, and which resources were used to do so. TEBA proposed the creation of this system last year — we're thrilled to see it come to fruition. This voluntary program will create vital transparency on the Texas power grid, and it works for every form of generation. EACs also will make it much easier for customers to support new technologies, helping unleash a new wave of innovative projects that will help meet the state’s growing energy needs. “EAC’s will provide a mechanism to supercharge the growth of advanced energy technologies on the grid — including new nuclear resources, demand flexibility, carbon capture projects, higher-impact battery storage, and other energy solutions — by providing transparent information about the energy those resources create,” said @baker_bryn, TEBA’s state director. Here's our press release on today's vote: linkedin.com/pulse/ercot-boa… #TxLege #ERCOT #Transparency #EACs #AdvancedEnergy
