Some quick, very basic but important tips for new artists entering the NFT space:
- don’t call yourself “NFT Artists”
You’re an Artist, NFTs are just a medium you’re currently publishing your works in.
Painters don’t call themselves “Canvas Artists” either
- Stop using hashtags in your bio, they look scammy af and they don’t really help with the reach of your account at all,
Also don’t use too many links in there, if you have more than one link، make a Linktree and put that in the link section of your profile
- gm posts are NOT the place to shill your works in, nor are any other posts that don’t explicitly ask for shills
- despite what you might think, people really like to read about your daily matters and thoughts, dedicating your profile to soulless announcements about your works and listings would make it seem like a bot account solely designed to generate sales.
So don’t shy away from thinking out loud here, promote yourself as a human being with a life, insights and opinions first and your works second
- don’t mind the 24/7 degens, you don’t have to sell your soul to Vitalik and set up camp on NFT Twitter to make it, that would probably help if it’s done genuinely and passionately, but approaching it as a chore with the goal of getting sales will only lead to quick burnout.
So it’s best to consider your time on Twitter as a form of casual and fun socializing to maximize productivity and genuine connections that would probably lead to sales too.
- people DMing you about buying your work or commissioning new NFTs are almost all scam, don’t waste your time on conversations with them.
- if your irl friends and followers shame or roast you for making NFTs in anyway, they’re not your friends and fans.
There is no shame in being curios about new technologies and tools that could expand your artistic expression and audience.
Those who embrace new things will outperform the ones who fight them and that’s a story as old as time
- last but not least
Don’t ever forget to have fun.
If it’s not fun, you’re doing it wrong.
