I created a dev.to organization for #rxjs
👉dev.to/rxjs
For now it's quite empty, I hope to publish one article this evening. If you would like to publish an rxjs related article, I would be happy to add it there! Just DM me!
Due to the amazing work of @saschanuissl, the rxjs-web library that I am working on now has an official logo and I love it😍

Today is my first day working as a self-employed #angular consultant. I'm super excited for that step. Kudos to @Michael_Hladky, @robinboehm & @elmd_ for answering my stupid questions and encouraging me to this!
I finally released my very first technical blog article, about #rxjs switchMap and the related *Map operators. I hope this helps the next time one is struggling with choosing the right one.
👉dev.to/rxjs/about-switchmap-…
I do appreciate any kind of feedback to improve myself🙏
In the last couple of weeks, I worked together with @Michael_Hladky on a Course "RxJS Basics for Angular Developers". It is now available on AngularNation and completely free!

Hi, I'm looking right now for my next freelancing project. I provide strong frontend skills.
Over 3 years of enterprise experience with Angular.
In general, I'm looking for 100% remote projects.
RT highly appreciated🙏
📣Announcing the newest member of the @Trilon_io family:
@Niklas_Wortmann 🎸
Jan-Niklas is a part of the #RxJs core team member, an amazing developer community organizer, and skilled enterprise architect and educator.
We are so excited to have him onboard! 🙏🚀
One of the biggest #RxJS problems I see constantly is a misuse of switchMap. Canceling sounds nice can cause data loss. If you are not sure if switchMap is the right operator feel free to check out my blog post about it!
dev.to/rxjs/about-switchmap-…
I would like to have some kind of official "best practices" within the RxJS docs. Therefore I created the following github issue. I would really appreciate any input what you are looking for. Any kind of comment/suggestion/discussion is highly appreciated
github.com/ReactiveX/rxjs/is…
I am super excited to announce the first @angular schematic to setup @pact_up tests. This makes consumer-driven-contract testing super easy for angular apps!
This is just an initial version to gather first feedback. I have still a lot of plans for this.

Today I published the first version of xstate-ngx, a thin @angular wrapper for xstate. It's still in early development, but I'd highly appreciate any feedback!
You can read some more details here:

This is probably going to be my last big thing before paternity leave, but I kinda felt like I owed that to @danielcroe and @TheAlexLichter after they told me that WebStorm does not have a project template for Nuxt. My code needs some serious review, but it should land sooner rather than later!

So a second ago I did my talk “Practice makes Perfect - when it comes to #RxJS” here at #jsdc2019.
It was a lot of funny, eventhough I failed horribly at the live coding part🤦♂️
Check out the slides👇

I see this quite often so here my take on using #rxjs takeWhile to handle unsubscribing in a component.
JUST DON'T DO IT!
It's not working as you expect.
A while ago, I wrote an article about that: dev.to/rxjs/takewhile-takeun…
Just shipped my first commit to the @jetbrains@angular Plugin 🎉
Somehow it even passed the code review!
Either I'm secretly competent or Junie is really that good! Probably the latter.
Coming to @WebStormIDE and other JetBrains IDEs soon!

We are looking for ways to improve the wording on the website around this. We are not using any code to train AI or something like that. We are much more interested in what kind of IDE features you are using, how you are using them, and what 3rd party dependencies you have installed in your project. This way we have more sophisticated data to improve the product itself. Hope this makes sense (This is somewhere described in the terms of service, but no one reads that anyway :D )
I'm thinking about making a hangout session about a short introduction about the new #RxJS docs. It should just cover the basics to make everyone able to start contributing easily. Maybe with a QA part too. Is there anyone interested in something like this?
In 90 minutes I will go live on #Twitch to talk about Dependency Injection in #Angular. To show the strength of this feature we will implement a logging service live, that is highly configurable but still convenient to use. Looking forward to seeing you around!
🎙️ New podcast episode with @RyanCarniato, creator of SolidJS and CEO of Signals.
We discuss:
How signals are changing JavaScript frameworks
SolidJS's approach beyond performance
Signals 2.0 features and async JavaScript patterns
Insights from Ryan's open-source journey
Great conversation for developers interested in modern JavaScript frameworks and reactive programming. Thanks a lot to Ryan for carving out time to share his knowledge with everyone!

Due to many recent discussions about wrapping web apis in #rxjs observables, I started to work on this new OSS project: github.com/JWO719/rxjs-web
It's heavily WIPish!
I really appreciate any feedback, especially if there's a web api you are missing right now.
I'm very excited and also honoured to speak at #ngIndia .
I'm soo much looking forward to it!!!!
It's goimg to be awesome💥
Thanks @geeknineseven for organizing this amazing event👏

WebStorm 2024.1.1 is out. It mainly fixes 2 nasty issues, but it also enables Angular model & signal output support as well as fixes our integration with eslint 9!
👋
For a new project, I am looking for #reactjs and #NodeJS developers. Our team is based in the US, Germany, and India but working remotely.
It's going to be a modern architecture, based on Azure and PWAs for a fortune 500 company.
Please slide into my DMs if interested 🙏🙏
🔥 NEW WEEKLY DEV'S BREW EPISODE: "Why JavaScript is Broken: How Effect and TypeScript Fixes It"
Featuring @MichaelArnaldi, author of @EffectTS_, sharing key information about JS async model + practical solutions!
From promises that lie about errors to building bulletproof systems ☕

I often see that people want to perform some kind of sideeffect as soon as one subscribes to an observable.
Feel free to take a look at the defer operator. It's kinda the opposit of finalize

Due to the fact that conferences are mostly postponed, my calendar is pretty open. So if you run an online meetup and want to have a talk about #angular or #rxjs, feel free to contact me at any time!
RT appreciated!🙏
WebStorm 2025.1 is out now! Here are the highlights:

If you are working with @WebStormIDE and you are sharing your screen or you are giving a presentation here are 2 tipps:
1. IDE Zoom is your best friend. It is very easy to change to go right back to coding after your meeting and it enlarges all elements in the IDE, not just the font.
2. Use presentation assistant, before 2023.3 it is a seperate plugin you need to install. With 2023.3 it is bundled right in the IDE and it shows all the keyboard shortcuts on screen, which makes it much easier for your colleagues to follow you and might teach them a trick or two.
🗂 Splitting your code into multiple files doesn’t always mean better organization. Sometimes, it can actually make finding things more complicated.
There's a lot of cognitive overhead in "what goes in this file" or "where do I put this code" that seems unnecessary.
I think it's time to announce that I will speak at #ngindia next year🤩
Super happy and thrilled about that! Feeling very honoured to come to India to talk about #angular and #rxjs
I am extremely excited because tomorrow I will be speaking at @ngPolandConf about contract testing with @pact_up and @angular. Here's a quick excerpt from my slides tomorrow, giving an overview of the pact process. Tune in and see you tomorrow!
ALT Slide showing Consumer-Driven Contract Testing with Pact.
Recently I stumbled across several problems using the `hostListener` decorator in @angular. I summarized my findings in this blog post: dev.to/angular/ain-t-nobody-…
This year is totally amazing so far. I attended several conferences and there are many more I am very much looking forward to.
Schedule:
- @rxjslive (this week)
- @ngSpain ( 19.-20.10)
- @jsdc_tw (26.10)
- @ngPolandConf (21.11)
- @ngbeconf (5.-6.12)
Thank you all for having me 🙏
🎬 Editing tomorrow's Weekly Dev's Brew episode made me question every font choice I've ever made
Tomorrow: Daniel Roe from @nuxt_js shares some eye-opening insights about web performance
I still think he's wrong about ligatures though...
Follow Weekly Dev's Brew (YouTube, Spotify, Apple...) if you don't want to miss it ☕
Together with the amazing team of @ngSpain we are thinking about a free women-only #rxjs workshop (based on the concept of @AngularGirls).
Therefore we would appreciate filling out the form to check general interest forms.gle/nLAb3avnJJbwzVBQ7.
RT appreciated🙏🙏
For all the #rxjs devs out there.
Do you think it would be helpful to add a section to the docs where we compare similar operators, e.g. switchmap & flatmap or *map in general
I'm really curious wether this would help devs to get into rxjs 👩💻
Votes and RTs appreciated! ❤️
The biggest news this week? @nuxtlabs just joined @vercel, and honestly, this feels like open source done RIGHT 🎯
The core team (Daniel Roe, Sébastien Chopin, Pooya Parsa, Anthony Fu) gets full-time funding while Nuxt stays independent with MIT license ☕
More in Thread 👇
I am never going back to separate HTML and CSS files for Angular, now that I know that jump to related file (Ctrl - Command - Arrow up) also works for inline components 😍
It's great when a talk goes without any issues or hiccups 😬 thanks for everyone hanging out with me and watching my talk, I very much appreciate it!
Here are the slides if you want to check'em out😅

Keynote on #rxjs ephemeral state management in #angular for @ngbeconf#ngBe
done!
It was an incredible honor for @niklas_wortmann and me!
Thanks for your time! 🙏❤️
I am working on an #rxjs library to wrap web APIs. Right now I'm working on the Sensor API (developer.mozilla.org/en-US/…).
This would be super cool especially for a #PWA or hybrid app!
Any feedback is highly appreciated!

The first pr for model input in @angular was opened earlier today (github.com/angular/angular/p…). This does require some changes in our angular integration for @WebStormIDE and other @jetbrains IDEs. I did create a ticket with some additional features I would like to see in our IDEs. If you have any related ideas/feature requests please leave a comment🙏

Last week at my talk @ngconf everything went wrong. My dev server crashed so my slides and demo were broken, presentation mode crashed on me, and the internet was flaky causing my demo to be pretty much useless.
Tips and Tricks for future me in🧵
I'm super excited to talk about RxJS at the Indore Meetup.
It will be interesting for everyone who tries to get into RxJS, but also for those for are already quite familiar with rxjs!
Additionally, I will cover all the cool stuff we plan for RxJS 7!!!!
One thing I learned by looking at the implementation of
@ngrx_io signal store is that you can return a class reference to create "dynamic"/configurable services.
It is a very nice pattern to define more reusable service logic! Here I drafted an implementation for a resource service factory that needs some polishing but could be used to handle REST endpoints
OMFG coming from the angular ecosystem, the react update experience is terrible, and this is not about react itself but just the few third-party libraries we are using 🥲
We’ve just had our morning coffee ☕️ and we’re all set to chat with you at @vuejsamsterdam today! Swing by our booth to meet @niklas_wortmann and @ryababukha 👋
A good chunk of our vue integration is built on Volar and the vue language server. So I am more than happy we are in a position to help the team. Many thanks to @johnsoncodehk and the entire team for the fantastic work and great collaboration!
🎉 Let’s take a moment to appreciate the amazing team behind Volar, whose hard work powers WebStorm’s Vue integration.
To celebrate their contribution to the success of JetBrains tools, we’re donating $10,000 to help them further their mission.
