Rick, since you are expressing “repentance” for 53 years of failed exegesis why don’t you bring forth the fruits of repentance by starting a new egalitarian denomination for you and your fellow progressives? That would be far more Christ-honoring than leading a charge to try to get the SBC to renounce its biblical heritage that has been supported by generations of faithful men and women. On a taxi ride to my speaking engagement this morning in Medellín, Colombia, Homer came to faith in Christ. He gave me the rosary that was hanging from his mirror because he said he no longer needs it. “Best day of my life! How can all this happen to me on a ride through town? It’s a miracle. Strange to me that so many Christian pastors think that they can best honor the Lord by neglecting His Day (which He forbids) so that they can celebrate His birth (which He never commands).
