The people claiming OCM isn’t “Bitcoin native” because it started on Ethereum are looking at the launch chain, not the architecture. Is a plane on the tarmac not a plane? OCM’s significance isn’t about surface-level placement. It’s about technical design. This is, after all, a computer science innovation industry.
On Ethereum, OCM wasn’t like most PFP projects that pointed to off-chain images. The entire 10K collection was generated fully on-chain in a single transaction. From day one, it lived in a cryptographically permanent public record.
When OCM moved to Bitcoin, the ETH tokens were burned. No double supply, no split provenance, just one canonical version. Here’s a fact most people miss: Ethereum and Bitcoin both use the same elliptic curve cryptography (secp256k1). This means at their most foundational math level, they share the same cryptographic DNA👀 Like two top-selling shoe brands made in the same factory, using the same materials, machinery, and labor force, but finished with different colors, styles, and brand names before reaching the consumer.
On Bitcoin, OCM once again achieved what no other project has. The entire 10K collection inscribed in a single transaction (Inscription 20,219) at only 19.4kb. From that point forward, all creation, ownership, distribution, transfers, and verification happen entirely within Bitcoin. Then using on-chain parent child creation and distribution provenance each piece is bound to a single parent sat in the UTXO set and secured by Bitcoin’s proof-of-work.
The artistry doesn't stop there. The entire 10K cursed collection is composed of sequentially numbered block 9 satoshis in the 450x range, perfectly aligned with the collection ID numbers. Each piece also has three additional re-inscriptions, each serving a unique purpose.
So yes, OCM didn’t initially launch on the “Bitcoin network,” but it did launch on the same underlying cryptographic root technology. That’s why OnChainMonkey stands as the most impressive display of technical skill, craftsmanship, and blockchain-level artistry in existence today. Its origin, journey, canonical ledger, and security are now 100% Bitcoin — which is exactly what “native” means in a functional, technical sense.
