Great April 1st @FFmpeg, sadly, we haven't donated 1 million to ffmpeg. Trust me, I really wish. However, over the past years, we have paid significant amounts to various open-source initiatives, including bento4, x264 (part of Videolan afaik), x265, AOMedia, DASH-IF, etc. We also opensource different software projects ourselves, finance currently 8 PhD positions at a university that a very active in the community (150 research papers), participate in video standardization, sponsor various video meetups, and try to bring the video developer community forward, to shape the future of video, same as the @ffmpeg community does … let’s have a conversation, happy to grab a beer at NAB. I dropped you a message a while back, just respond and we set something up.

I clarified my respect to ffmpeg in the comments, and clarified that I’m focusing more on the challenge of scaling software like that in the cloud, doing distributed chuncked encoding, using spot instances, doing distributed rate control, that’s hard stuff
